One of the ways the Nest Hub Max aims to differentiate itself from competing smart displays with built-in cameras is the addition of the Nest Camera. Basically, the display's built-in camera can be used as a security camera for remote video monitoring, complete with live alerts for your phone when it detects motion. Users can also opt to subscribe to Nest Monitoring for cloud video recording of up to 30 days, and to detect whether the people in front of the camera are family members or strangers.

so since it has app drawer now, can you sideload apps? I only have the 1st gen, which does not have app drawer.

Thanks, don't need these right away so I'll just wait for a better deal. I like echo for drop in video calls, does google do a similar job for things like checking into your house from your cellphone somewhere?

I'm having problems with all of my Google devices for the past few weeks. Is google getting slack with the iot devices? I have quite a few different ones and they seem to not listen better than listen. Even when I look up what it heard, it's correct, but then says I didn't understand that.

I am cautious about buying these hubs/nest since my 2019 5in hub has crashed during an update. This thing is stuck on the "G" screen for the pass 2 weeks. I have tried dozen of factory resets without progress. I have email Google support about the issue and current waiting for their reply. I just wondering if anyone else is have this same issue and how they fixed it. Back to the topic..... This is a decent deal.

I've had one for a few months, and it's mostly cool, but it restarts itself often. At least once every 2 or 3 days. Sometimes a couple times in a day, which gets super annoying. I've looked it up, and it has been an issue for a long time, so they're not going to be fixing it anytime soon.
