I logged into my Verizon FiOS account (via iOS app) and much to my surprise received an offer for an upgrade to 300/300 from 200/200 for the same monthly price of $39.99 and no change in terms (no contract with autopay). I am based in PA, US. The only hardline competition locally for me is Comcast Xfinity with some coverage for T-Mobile 5G broadband (which may be influencing the offer).

I did not receive a mailer either physically or electronically. This simply came up as an option when I clicked on Internet—>Upgrade my speed. Granted I had already been receiving speeds above 200/200 prior to the upgrade, but this formalizes it.

Autopay via bank account or debit card is required, at least for my account.

I guess they just renamed it. Last year when I took the 200/200 mbps plan the Verizon installation person had told me that though the plan says 200/200, the actual speed given is 300/300 mbps. So it's basically the same. They have finally just changed the 200 to 300
I got the same spiel

Just so people know: this is only a marketing change. 200Mpbs was always provisioned as 300Mbps. They are the same. Not sure why it took Verizon so long to align the marketing, but now they have.
The reason is so many customers are still att 100 or below. And would need to have their data switched from coax to ethernet.

I am planning switch from cable to Verizon FIOS, have 200 download and 35mbps for cable now, I have 3 questions, 1) my cable upload speed drop to 1-2mbps if weather is bad, will same thing happen on FIOS? Or it keep the same speed all the time? 2) how to save on the FIOS modem? I checked but can't find it sell at Amazon, Version selling it for $300. 3) around how much I need to pay for the tax or fee in additional to the $39.99? I live in NYC. Appreciated your answers

Thanks OP! I was previously on the 200/200 plan.

I ran some speed tests before, and was getting around 220 up and 170 down. Hopefully I see an increase in speed after the account changes take effect.
That sounds like you were on WiFi with that ratio.

It's asking me to schedule an appointment for installation.

I already have fios 100mbps, and trying to upgrade to 300/300. Price shows that my new plan will be the same price as my current. But when I try to check out, I have to schedule an appointment for installation. Anyone know why?
I had called last year as I had 100/100 and they said they could upgrade it to 300/300 at the same monthly cost but that they would have to install either a new ONT or something to change from coaxial to cat5 as coaxial could not give that speed. Installation cost would have been about $300. I declined

It could be because you have a coax connection to your ONT. When I switched to Verizon, the installer said he would have to upgrade the coax to Ethernet if had over 100/100 service.

Just FYI 100/100 is the fastest you can go on just coax. Modem will need to plug in Ethernet and coax at 200/200 or above

Edit. Wow the timing… lol

Yes I was told the same thing when I switched to Fios 2 years ago that the 200/200 plan is really provisioned 300/300.
That said, trying to switch my account to the 300/300 plan to properly reflect what I'm actually getting, AND I DONT SEE A WAY TO DE-SELECT DISNEY which they seem to be adding on for another $7.99. Anyone else figure this out?
I have the same problem. Such BS

Also, check Verizon.com/connections. My company has a discount and I was able to get it for $36.50 with taxes and fees. Super stoked since we had gig and it really wasn't necessary. Was able to say $50 a month with the extra $5 off.

THANK YOU!
I logged in and was offered to upgrade from 400/400 to Gigabit for $10/mo ($69.99/mo- i remember it being either $79.99 or 89.99 before). Additionally, it includes their their "whole home WiFi" package, which is the latest WiFi 6 gateway w/ 1 optional extender (advertised as bundled with the gateway, but fine print says to contact support to request it. I opted to pick the Gateway from the local store so I'll request at the same time).

I currently have a G1100 Gateway, but it only serves to create a MoCA network to extend my network upstairs. Been looking at newer MoCA 2.5 kits anyway, which run ~$110. If this works out, for that same cost we'll have a year of Gigabit AND MoCA 2.5. Worth it.

Regarding the free upgrade from 200 to 300, it might be in name only. I don't think Verizon has sold the 200 plan for close to 5 years now (at least in my area), and about a year or so later were provisioning those accounts for 300 without telling anyone. You may have already been getting those speeds without formally having the plan.

So my house has an old ONT installed that doesnt even allow 100/100 so Im currently paying 39.99 for 50/50. I reached out to verizon twice for a free ONT upgrade to the latest one so that I can sign up for a higher speed plan. They installed the latest ONT for free on my previous house when fios was first coming in. Their response was that it's resident's cost to upgrade the freaking two decades old ONT even if I sign up for 200/200 plan. Is there anyone who was able to get verizon to upgrade the ONT at their cost? If so, what is the trick?
I have an old ONT box as well,
I just had them change the handoff from coax to Ethernet. Currently getting 300/300

I switched to the 200/200 (from a promo rate on 100/100) when they first offered it for $40. Originally, I was only getting 200 down. I just tested and sure enough I'm now getting 300 down. Is there any reason to bother going to the website and "switching" ?
