I feel this. As a 32 year old man, I'm considering buying this for my computer desk. I'm not even a Mustang guy or a huge car guy in general

I bought the VW Camper Van Lego set for mine and I have been quite happy about the decision.

I hear ya. All the technic stuff looks way too cool. its a rabbit hole i'm not wanting to go down. lol.

There's a cool show on Netflix called Toys that Made Us (something like that) and they have an episode on Lego, pretty cool to see the story behind the company.

Hahah don't go down the rabbit hole! Thanks for the show recommendation, I'll have to check it out. I used to love Legos as a kid and would spend hours building stuff.

I succumbed to the adult LEGO rabbit hole. It's too much fun.

Cool set. I would get one if I had a place to display it. I remember when technic meant you'd probably have a couple of gears and a crnk to turn or something similar, back in the early days.

This is a cool straightforward build. My first grader really enjoyed it. It's not nearly as complicated as many other technics, even at similar size. It doesn't really have the gear mechanisms or the working pistons of some of the other engines -- can't even steer. However, my son enjoys the pullback mechanism which works REALLY well. And there's a lego app (which is HUGE -- make sure your phone has a bunch of space) that lets you do AR drag races against a virtual opponent. It's best with two people -- one holding the phone and one releasing the car -- but it's a pretty neat little app.

One complaint is that the lever to release the pullback replaces the back plate which you'd use for display, so you sorta have to choose between "display mode" and "race mode," though it's easy to switch. If you have skinny fingers, you don't need the lever to release the pullback.

This actually kind of annoyed me with this set. First set I've bought in a long time. I enjoyed putting it together but at the end I was annoyed that the steering wheel didn't do anything and the wheels couldn't turn. The pull back feature was interesting but made it feel more like a toy my 3 year old would like (he does indeed enjoy playing with this car).

I bought the yellow technic jeep and was glad it could turn and it had a steering system.

In short, it's fun to put together and it looks nice, I just wanted more out of it.

what's the point of building this just for it to embarrassingly crash coming out of a cars and coffee event?
