I have a 65 with android and love it. Every once and awhile a certain app will freeze or not work properly but it's fairly simple to force close apps. I also have a Roku tv and prefer the Android os much better. But you can always buy a Roku stick later if you dont like it.

I have 65 inch Android from TCL. Same class 4 TV as here. The remote stopped working completely. It can't go into settings for the TV at all. It's like a strange thing really because the remote works for general tasks like turning TV on and off and also selecting the apps. It can't enter the TV settings. It's a known problem it seems with TCL remote. Also, i can't change HDMI inputs because of the inoperable remote. I can only use the TV in the home mode and whatever apps it has.

Great TV. Updated the firmware once. Than factory reset so android TV is disabled again. Plug in Roku and never looked back.

Did play with Android TV for a bit but like others, it slows the whole TV down and becomes useless. Super fast once you disable it by not setting up network.

6.6/10 VA panel with good contrast; no local dimming, no VRR, poor brightness and HDR

I bought this and returned it during the last sale. Was not at all impressed with android, and I use OTA, which roku just excels at. I returned this the next day. Only plus side was the picture adjustment settings. Very in depth on that compared to default roku. Got the 75" Westinghouse at target for $450 or so and haven't looked back.

I used to work in the electronic business and your results are the opposite of what most people experience. What if if works... more power to you.

Android is an excellent TV OS BUT it requires a fairly decent processor, something most TVs lack. If you were to use it through Nvidia Shield or an Android box you would change your mind.

There's no way in hell retail price is $829. I would wait now that supply chains are getting better for tv deals. Costco usually being the most safe with their return policy and warranty.

Well TCL is headquartered in China so in all likelihood that's where it's made and where your dollars will go?

Matches the previous price but not cheaper. Not a bad intro TV though RTings is rating it lower due to missing local dimming.

A bit of a learning curve using android. Imo roku interface and menu more simple and user friendly. Although with Android you have more options if you wanted to play games/ emulators, add kodi, use a Bluetooth gaming controller, etc

Hey can you give a step by step on how to disable Android on it? I have the 65" and use firestick but would also like to disable the android os since it's super slow. Thank you!

Curious... Can this be done on other Android sets? I have a Hisense running Android and can't stand it. Its ridiculously slow and I struggle to see why so many enjoy it. I know people say I'm crazy but I much prefer the Roku OS.

Most people prefer Roku over Android. At least SDers do. You're not the only one, myself included.
