They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)
Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.
So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it

If it was the Nexus7, that thing was maybe one of the best tablets of all time. I bought one because of threads here. Never had one problem. It was smart to get the refurb's though because the charging port breakage problem was fixed on them

This. Lmfao at the people saying some people don't live in a house as if apartments don't have WiFi capabilities. A lot of people travel and use their tablets on the go and don't want to have to rely on being stuck at a location just to get free or even paid wifi Hotspots.
Also, they know that it'll get lost in the mix of all the business expenses and long after the tablet has broken and been trashed (or "recycled" into the great island of plastic in the pacific), accounting will still be paying them $10/month for essentially nothing.

Granted specs don't sound great now but back when I first got it for her it was basically equal to my brand new phone all things considered. Bought my dad a used one for Christmas the next year and the prices were slightly higher than the year before.
Still going strong for both of them with no complaints. Having just checked the specs the screen is shockingly stunning for the PPI being just under 300.
