Just an FYI if you're just getting this for the "free" tablet. The tablet is a Galaxy A7 lite which only costs $200 ($129 on Amazon)

They will still lock you to a 2 year EIP even if it's free (They'll make a monthly credit to cover the tablet EIP)

Meaning you'd end up paying $10 for 2 years ($240) for a $129 tablet.

So if you're only doing it for the tablet then it's not worth it

Not on the "free" tablet, lol. In all seriousness, don't choose the plan with TE in the title as that one is tax exclusive (you have 2 choices)

soc code ZB10HSTI is the one you want.

Did that. Tech support couldn't send me a text either.
They're looking into it.
But as I said, the friend's tablet has the same text problem, so it must be a T-Mo issue.

Just trying to see if anyone here has the same text problem with the tablet.
It's intermittent for me too, rebooting the tablet sometimes works. You'll see the text message is there on the web but the device gets nothing.

I feel like the TMOHS1 is much more reliable receiving texts. The sim I have in the hotspot works perfectly.

From what I read, it works normally too if you put the sim in a phone.

I've not checked for a while, so just to confirm - there is still no way to change IMEI? I.e. TM can see that the SIM in used in a hotspot. I suppose they don't care (yet).
I think I saw in one of the post either here or in the test drive forum about a utility which helps you mask/update the IMEI and make it persistent over reboot.. I havent tried it myself personally, since it has been reported (and I have tested it too) that the data over TMHO1 is recorded as data and not hotspot.. so no need for update till they revoke it..

Was like new. I got a deal.
Good for you! Still reluctant to make offers on market place.. I almost bought a like new one from someone on market place and was going to go pick it up in person when I was visiting that city, however the person was out and only returning back after a couple of hours and I had to leave before that. It is too far to make that trip again..

Does not receive any texts when Sim is in the TMOHS1.
So, it probably has something to do with the Sim ICCD and the phone #.

No way to change IMEI, at least on the TMOHS1, and most likely all other devices.

I think Facebook has a purchase protection thing, check that out. It was my first Marketplace transaction and it was very smooth.

You can change the IMEI on the Franklin T9.

Ok, so it's better to stick with older ones with root

Do you need to have voice line to get this deal?

I went to two different stores and they will not set up unless I start a new line with them.

No voice line needed, either sign up online under sole proprietorship which will require SSN. Or call 800-937-8997. Good Luck.

Call 1-877-590-4728

You absolutely don't have to go to the store if you use your SS # as a sole proprietor or use an EIN for a company and the T-Mo verifiers can see an actual company registration with the Secretary of State of your state since these are public records.

The only time you may have to go to the store is if you just have an EIN but there is no actual company registered with the state.
In that case it's best to just use your SS# as a sole proprietor and just do it on the phone.

T-Mo also uses the D&B database of companies.

1. To get an online account the Sim must be activated in the tablet.
If so and if an EIN was used go here and choose the Admin option:

https://tfb.t-mobile.com/signup

You must fill in the EIN, no T-Mo phone # is required.

If the SS# was used you must call 1-877-590-4728 and ask to have the online account setup.
They may also do it at the store?
The End User option in the above link cannot be used since there is no T-Mo phone #.

2. To enable the hotspot in the tablet just go to the Network settings, just like any android phone. Remember that the hotspot in the tablet has a 10Gb monthly limit.

To enable the hotspot in another device you must read this thread for the various devices posters here have used to avoid the hotspot limit.

The exploit removed the root password of your device. It is STRONGLY recommended to set a custom root password.
Your device will be EXTREMELY INSECURE if you do not.

Changing root password.
IMPORTANT NOTE: the password will be sent insecurely over telnet,
so you should manually change it later over ADB-USB if you are concerned about security.

Root password successfully updated.

I've done the original instructions from this thread.
Per your instructions you did not do "original", you did step one and step two, am I right?
If yes, what steps one and two do to TMOSH1 making it's rooting even better?
What is the reason for those steps?
