Seeing as how a decent hatchet costs $30‐40, I'm a bit skeptical.
Splitting lots of wood has made me a Fiskars fan.
I was interested cause it looked like Fiskar but a Fiskar is not that much more expensive. Probably better to stick to a Fiskar.

So which is better, this or the multitool with the hatchet and hammer for $21? https://www.walmart.com/ip/977920617
I'm gonna try to give some input, but just my opinions and knowing nothing about you or your situation. The hatchet/hammer has more toys in it, useful, maybe. But would be better if you were more experienced and can use the tools within their limitations and their limitations are significant. However, if you were more experienced, you wouldn't use something like that and instead would be going for something more practical and functional. The ozark axe/knife/wiresaw combo is more practical and far more capable. They are of actual functional size and design, actually usable. The axe uses proven design concepts, forged head of usable weight molded into the end of a poly or nylon, glass reinforced shaft. This design as far as I know was popularized by fiskars. I suspect might be made in the same factory as many other brands such as fiskars. The knife is a typical full tang design with a molded tpu handle, very typical and usable. The wire saw is actually better and safer tool than the hatchet on larger branches. Axe/hatchet injuries from glancing blows due to inexperience is very real, serious and more common than many realize. Wire saw is more effective on larger branches and far, far safer. Look online for axe/hatchet injuries, not very pretty. So, it of course depends on your specific situation and abilities as to which one is a better pick. Urban needs to tinker with in situations where failure is not critical then get the sunsbell with all the gizmos on it, learn and experiment. If your planning to go into the woods where if your hatchet fails you don't chop wood or if it isn't effective enough you don't chop enough wood then get the ozark set. Oh yeah, the multitool sunsbell thing, has a knife right ? If you ever use that to gut/skin an animal or do anything messy with it, you'll never ever get it clean from all the nooks and crannies. Three or so days later it will start smelling bad and won't be very useful then. The ozark knife in the set, use it, clean it and you can use it again. The sunsbell is more in the toy category the ozark is more in the usable category. Just my 2 cents though, just food for thought. Good luck.

I am still seeing this cheaper option available near me at $14. I think some places have it for as low as $7.

That looks about the cheapest handle ever. I would not swing that too hard. Blade looks like really cheap metal too

All I can ever think of when I see a cheap set like this is 127 hours the movie when he is trying to cut his arm off.

Aron Ralston: Lesson, dont buy the cheap, made-in-China multi-tool. I tried to find my Swiss Army knife, but...
[shakes his head]
Aron Ralston: This thing came free with a flashlight. Flashlight was a piece of s**t too. I kept it in my truck for emergencies. Not that I'm blaming you mom. It was a perfectly great stocking stuffer. And there's no way you could have ever known that I'd get in this kind of trouble.

Ozark Trail is a Walmart house brand. That means it's just as low quality as you would expect.

I can't imagine the hatchet with a hollow-ish handle, having any good feel to it

Actually OT does make some relatively high quality stuff. Their are several reviews on YT indicating their 18 in 1 multitool (MultiForce) holds up well with the LM Wave (even better in some regards). Their tumblers also fair very well compared to YETI tumblers in terms of insulation and durability. Their are definitely some low end items in the OT line but I don't think they should be totally regarded as creating low end products.

This guys seems to like many of the items in this pack: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY2ESHn8wtM
