" Discovery — which is about to become Warner Bros. Discovery within the next month, when its merger with AT&T's WarnerMedia closes — has confirmed its plans to combine its current streaming service Discovery Plus and WarnerMedia's HBO Max into one service, rather than offer the two platforms as a bundle."
If this price for a year is lower than HBO, then maybe it's useful to some.
I was thinking just that. Why buy a subscription of a service that is going to be part of another one?

There's only 1 show on there that my son and I like - Gold Rush. It used to be included on Hulu, but then disappeared - I guess Discovery+ made it exclusive to drive memberships. Even at $50 though, I'm not sure I can justify adding yet another streaming service.

Wish I could just buy the latest season on DVD.

If I DO subscribe, can I set it to not automatically renew at the higher price? In other words, to expire after a year?

Gold Rush is available On Demand through my cable provider. Other shows, like Moonshiners, are not. I don't know how they decide, guessing it's by viewership/popularity.

Just yesterday I signed up for Netflix and Hulu with Disney + add on

We plan on getting the other two but CAN SOMEONE. tell me why I shouldn't get Paramount+ and Discovery+ right now.

I am fine with getting the 2 of them but I need justification as to what would I get and is it worth it to have all 4?

I have two major problems with Discovery+. First off it likes to promote shows I have no intention of watching. All streaming services do this to a degree, but it presents this on the homepage as if it's shows I would be interested in (trash reality type shows like 90 day fiance, 600 pound sisters, ghost garbage, etc). It should at least promote shows based on what is viewed.

The second thing is that the library of old shows is completely random. There will be multiple seasons but each season will have random eps -- 1,2,5,8,9,10,13 etc..

The interface really needs to be rethought. There's really no easy way to "continue" where you left off. You have to save the shows in a list and remember to go back.
Run it on the Amazon prime app. I haven't had those issues.

Reminds me of when HBO Max offered a year for $149 when they knew they'd be revising the monthly cost down, which sure maximizes profit, but leaves a lot of unhappy customers.

Now they're going to sell Discovery+ subs for a year for a service that's about to be folded into HBO Max in the near future?

Okay, AT&T...

I also saw yesterday that Crackle is now mysteriously "Crackle Plus" in the google play store?

You tried Sony...you tried.

I don't mind the ads too much in the ad version. They're usually no more than a minute. Though they repeat the same ones.
This was my issue. Got the Ad-Lite $49.99 deal a few months back. With Naked And Afraid, they played the SAME COMMERICAL over and over and over, sometimes twice in the 1 minute commercial slot. It was driving me crazy. I finally contacted them to see if I could upgrade at some cost to the ad-free version and they said no. In the end, the commercials on that show suddenly started to randomize like it should.

Now, though, with this deal, I feel like I got screwed.

I had cancelled the service recently and they sent a special link/promo code for it. Just checked and it comes up as no longer valid (guess since I used it) so it wasn't really shareable.

I finally sold the lite stick for $10 on FB Marketplace, so I guess I'm net even now with this deal.
