I noticed this is an 8gb 3070 (vs 10 or 12gb). Can anyone help me understand how important this actually is? What metrics would I see a difference in performance? What types of applications is having more important? Typically I see the 8gb versions in laptops not desktops.

It's not important because Nvidia only makes an 8 gb 3070. The vram capacity is the last spec you should worry about.

Edit: Sorry, I'm talking about gaming. I suppose there are some non-gaming applications such as 3D modelling/rendering it may matter. If vram matters then I'd save money and buy a PC with a 3060 12gb. Nowhere near this for gaming but the extra vram may help with those other tasks.

3070 tempting

Was that deal 32 gb of RAM though (legit asking, idk)? Most I see are just 16... This is the cheapest I have seen this build, but I am thinking it is less to do with being a deal and more to do with new cards coming out, the chip shortage slightly easing, and shit coins all plunging in value so mining not as good anymore.

I am curious if the community finds this a good deal. Lots of RAM, but last gen Intel processor. Prices are coming down, this would have been a great deal a few months ago imo, now I am not so sure... Thoughts everyone?

Good price for this config.
You dno't think this CyberPower was better?

The 3070 Ti is only 5%-7% more powerful. Plus this cyber power is more expensive too if you upgrade to 32Gb ram. And it doesn't have a 1Tb HDD. Also Costco return + 2 year warranty is a no brainer.

How long can you rent computers at costco now? It's been a long time, but I know people used to return computers 1 year later.

90 day returns, but double warranty (2 yrs, more if you pay with cc that adds even more).

The GPU upgrade to TI alone is worth way more than the $75 in my mind, without a doubt. The RAM is worth only $50. They offer the HDD for cheap too, but 1 TB SSD is good for many and included. But CyberPower warranty is only 1 year, so that is a difference there.

If I bought at full price 45 days ago, do you think they will price match?

I think you could make a case for it, and worst case you could always return and rebuy if needed.

You spend 1700 + tax and you get one USB-C port.

Your points are exactly on point. I build PCs for clients so I'm hyper aware of specs at various price points and this is not it. This would of been a maybe a year ago while we were still in the GPU apocalypse but not anymore. Lenovo Legion prebuilts are usually the best quality/parts wise but you have to look at the price too to critically whether it holds true.

The 1.4k Strix Hotbox from Best Buy is argubly a better buy than this with the 11700F/3070 for $1399. Don't get me wrong though, it's not that good either but for $400 less for fairly similar specs, I'd rate it better. I've attached a video from someone who bought it below to give you an idea

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D...=GameNight

I'd honestly just be on the lookout for deals, GPU prices are falling rapidly. There was a Asus 3070 Ti TUF for $699 for almost an hour yesterday. Asus plans to slash their 30 series GPU prices by as much as 30% in the near future for reference.

Thanks for the detailed commentary, these are the posts I look for now that I'm back looking for a desktop again. Repped!
