Do not buy these. I bought last time they were at this price. The elastic around the ankles is ridiculously tight and I have fairly small ankles. These made my calves swell badly that I couldn't wear them for more than a few hours at a time.

Maybe a bad batch, otherwise the cushioning is good.

My tween son is up to size nine shoes, and is whip cord slender. Do you think these might fit well on a men's size 9 shoe / boys med-large tall jeans.

Maybe if he has no calves at all. I have good size calves but really skinny ankles - if I pushed them down maybe it's ok. But as soon as it's above where I have any meat on my leg - it's really bad at cutting off circulation. I can't imagine how bad it is for people with larger frames than me.

got mine today. fit fine. no tightness as described above. certainly not the softtest socks i've bought but for $1 ea but they are ok. maybe some 1% of people just have disproportionate calves and this is deal not for them.
