Darn, just bought these used on Amazon for $80. I had a gift card so returning and rebuying at this price wouldn't make sense for me.
Forgot to say, loved the sound of the er3xr way better than the er2se and er2xr, especially after eq-ing all 3 of them with autoeq for pc and wavelet for my phone.
For people who say it sounds muffled with the 2 or 3 flange - it's because you still didn't push it in deep enough and the tip is either being blocked or sound isn't bouncing off your canal optimally.
Finally, I prefer the foam tips the most. The ones that came with are ok but expand way too much that they start to put pressure in my ear. I bought the Shure foam tips in size small and prefer them way more. They are soft and squishy in a good way and expand just the right amount for my ears. Isolation for me is arguably better than silicon flanges.
The silicone tips were creating this weird vacuum and I couldn't fix it no matter how I adjusted. The final straw for me was when I was removing the headphones from my ear with the silicone, it felt like it was yanking my eardrum in the opposite direction and was beyond painful that I had to pause taking it out of my ear. It hurt so bad...
Foam tips all the way because you can push them against your ear to remove any pressure and slide them out, with no pain. Also, I don't think you need to push them in as deep as the flanges either. For me personally, I'm faster inserting the foam than with the silicone flanges as I had to take my time to insert it and remove it with no pain. I think you get the idea, foam = no pain. lol
Collection: Sony-MDR-1a, Moondrop Aria, Etymotic ER3XR, Sennheiser HD560s, Sony XF-1000XM3, Sony WH-1000XM3, various gaming headsets and "other audiophile headphones that I can't find/remember.."
What your opinion on the ER3XR when compare with Moondrop Aria? I mainly use the IEM for soundstage purpose.

ooh, that's a tough one since the Aria's were my entry into iems.
I'm no expert so everything is just a feeling for me. (they both don't have big soundstages but they aren't terrible I guess)
I think the best way to explain it is, the Aria's are fun to listen to but I think I prefer the er3xr after eq because everything sounds so good. When you first get the er3xr, they will sound recessed but after eq-ing, everything opens up. The singers sound like they are in an open room and there's enough thump for me in the bass but it's not as very heavy as more "fun" iems. (replacement cables [the originals suck and are microphonic] and 3rd party cables are difficult to find for the er3xr)
The Aria's may be more "fun" sounding though if that's what you are into. My Aria's broke, so I bought the er3xr, can't ab test them. (broken aria is another thing to consider)
If you are on PC: download equalizer apo and peace equalizer (install equalizer before peace) then use auto-eq GitHub dump.
If you are on android: download wavelet - auto-eq is just a setting you have to turn on so it's even simpler.

Thanks. Sounds like the ER3XR still need some EQ to get the best performance. Unfortunately, unlike listening from PC, I don't have EQ features when performing live on stage. I agreed the soundstage is a bit narrow on Aria. I'll keep looking for a better IEM on this price range below $200... .

Agreed, the er3xr sounds a little too recessed or as others have said in reviews - too dark.

The XR has a bit more bass but may still be bass light for "normal folks".
