Searching for a gaming laptop a while, this seems like a fair deal, agreed? Watts to GPU? Costco has a solid return policy and HP is major brand. Where's the drawback? Any better comparable under $1,450?

Drawback is the 1080p albeit at 144MHz

it's a so and so deal. HP 3070 is lower TDP than legion 5 pro. I have both laptop and HP gets about 10-15% lower fps. Also it has no mux switch. So that lighter power brick does have a tradeoff.

Also i have seen other seller selling the same type of HP laptop with the 1440p and 5800H for really not that much more: For $1500 you can get this in 1440p 165hz screen and 5800H with the same ram and SSD : https://www.newegg.com/p/2WC-0001...8S1FCN0505

This Newegg one says 200W PSU. So 30W less than above, I know that AMD is more efficient, but enough to make up that difference and have a higher TDP for the 3070 on this Newegg model, are you sure ?
If it is max power for a 3070 then that probably is a better deal for some. Since 8Gb at high TDP for the RTX 3070 is a big deal for games.

The 3070 on the HP with 5800H has the same TDP as the one with the i7-11800H. Which is 80-110W: https://www.omen.com/us/en/laptop...tions.html

I was referring to the Legion 5 Pro with its significantly heavier 300W brick due to it having the 140W 3070

Thank you. I didn't run benchmarks but most of the recent AAA games ran about the same on both.
I chose HP for costco warranty, portability and office aesthethics.

It's on the legion 5 pro with the i7-11800H. TB4 has its use but unless you are gonna specifically for its higher bandwidth such as eGPU or trying to connect more than one high res high refresh rate monitor to one TB4 port, a usb-c gen 2 with DP and PD functions is good enough. And I bet most people dont use eGPU anyway ever.

Also, even if you want to connect a lot of external displays, both of these laptops have three 4K 60hz outputs which is the max number of total external monitors supported by GPU anyway

TB3 is still 40Gbit/s like TB4. TB4 supports a wider range of connection protocols and abilities compared to TB3 but still has the same total bandwidth..

usb-c 3.2 gen 2 with DP and PD is 20Gbit/s so not quite TB3 speed,, more like TB2 speed.

DO NOT BUY

I got one of these and returned it.

Poor quality construction, weak plastic shell, and serious screen bleed. Returned same day.

Track pad is also atrocious, and lots of people commented about how theirs was defective.
