This company is very well known, to produce subpar products. Also is promoted by SD and Amazon employees every couple of weeks, so do your own due diligence...

Regarding the actual University study, these were the highlighted results:

THE BRANDS THAT FAILED THE TEST:

Pompeian, Bertolli, Colavita, Star, Sasso, Antica Badia, Primadonna, Carapelli, Mazola, Felippo Berio, Safeway, Whole Foods, Carapelli, Coricelli, Mezzetta

THE GUYS THAT PASSED THE TEST AND CAN BE TRUSTED:

Corto Olive, Ottavio, Omaggio, Bariani Olive Oil, Lucini, Kirkland Organic, Lucero, Olea Estates, McEvoy Ranch Organic, Cobram Estate, California Olive Ranch

This comes out to about 17¢/oz. The normal price for generic EVOO at my local grocery store without any sales or discounts is the same. I try to stock up around 13¢/oz.

Your linked report is very dated. Not defending Pompeian but fwiw the brand participates in NAOOA's sampling & certification. [aboutoliveoil.org]

Interesting: If you clikc on the SD hot link, you get the $17.44 price. If you search for onsite, it comes up at $23.26 ($0.23 / Fl Oz). No surprise, Amazon couldn't play a striaght game with a clean deck if their lives depended on it.
FWIW, locally upstate NY, ShopRite occasionally has this in the 68 oz size at just under $10, thus 14-15 cents per ounce. My Sam's Club has the 68 oz size either in Pompeian or Member's Mark for $11., so 17 cents/oz.
Amazon has made us all cynics: availability may wonderful, but increasingly you're being played....and cutting through the crap is exhausting, and annoying. Your Los Vegas shopping center.

and this stock is about to expire, so who knows how old it is. kind of surprised they are trying to sell old low grade oil for this much.

Ollllld. At minmum, early 21 Harvest, may be even 20. Then it's at best a mids blend. Xvoo isn't something to skimp on.

Even the Global Blend? I bought some at Harris Teeter on sale (8.99/750ml) this week, couldn't afford the California Blend. I got tired of waiting for my sister to pick up the Kirkland Organic EVOO at Costco for me.

NEW DEAL, but local. ShopRite (a NE chain) is offering 65oz of Pompeian at $8.99, thus 13 cent/oz. for the week starting 3/27 and running through 4/2
