Hue is more reliable. Kasa bulbs use wifi which can be less reliable and makes your wifi network congested if you're trying to convert an entire home. Maybe if you're only looking to have smart bulbs in one room it might be ok, but if you're adding 40,50,60+ light devices to your home it can be a lot to expect from a wifi network.

Kasa says it's a good thing their bulbs dont require a hub, but I think that's a negative. I have 31 lights and I'm only halfway through my house and haven't touched my outdoor areas yet. Kasa would not be a good solution for me.

Saved me the stress of a rant and a whole bunch of typing. This is the perfect reply.

I'll add that I've tried C by GE, TP-Link, and urlhasbeenblocked (with the hub) and none of them hold a candle to hue. Pun uncertain.

edit: apparently the brand that starts with sen and is followed by gled is an illegal word...

this is a very decent deal as the 75w 1100 color are ~$30 on ebay. So thats 4 x $30 or $120 and you are getting the hub (including the ac adapter and Ethernet cables) [backup] for $10.

Ooh nice, at this point I'd be just upgrading from 60w in a few fixtures and moving them to the bathroom finally. Frivolous but tempting. Also I got the 100w for the living room ceiling fan recently and for anybody curious if it's a worthy upgrade from 60 it totally is. White is plenty for my ~20x30 living room. Color is dimmer of course but still very impressive.

Not sure why buy Hue when Kasa is much cheaper ...
I thought there was a lot of talk about Kasa being discontinued?

Interesting.. So are the 75w 1100 for both white and color or is color also dimmer on these?

To be precise 1600lm is only for white @4000K. But personally I don't know anyone who use color lights in full brightness. Color lights supposed to be used as accent lights to create atmosphere.

What about all your light switches in your house, why the need for so many smart bulbs, much less color ones? Does your family like everything so automated?

I have many dumb lights hooked up to a single smart switch, no issues with wifi congestion.

Permanentjaun likely has his switch boxes plastered over which by the way is a lot of switches in a 60 room mansion.

I believe you, just can't relate I guess. I mean, how important are smart bulbs to have so many? The kasa bulbs I have look pretty much the same to me, but this is obviously over my head.

Good deal if you need it now, but as others have said it's been $129 before.

So we could save $1 if we wait?
