To avoid tax and fees, you may buy the refills from a third party like Target first and pay the plan with refills. Sign up for a Target REDcard debit or credit card and you'll get at least 5% off every purchase, more when they offer sales on refill cards.
You can change the plan after you sige up.
FAQ:
Q: Do $10 and $35 Connect by T-Mobile receive an annual data increase?
A: No. Only $15 and $25 Connect by T-Mobile plans feature an annual data increase
eSIM: T-Mobile DOES offer eSIM on pre-paid plans even if you have an Android phone. If you have an iPhone, download the T-Mobile Prepaid eSIM app and you will be able to sign up that way. You may have to scroll the plan list to see the cheaper Connect plans, T-Mobile buries them.

Just checked. Domestic roaming is limited to 100MB. Better than nothing in a pinch, but useless if you rely on this a lot.

But the signal was slow and not stable in some areas. They also charged a fee if you do not use it in a month or so. The review was not good back then and also nowadays

I returned my mobile hotspot back to them after a few months.
Looks like they still have a free plan (I think they always do),

But I have never considered it as a prepaid option. I have never used any free plans as my phone line. I cannot trust something like that. If you are comparing this TMobile plan with something like that, then we are not talking about the same "prepaid industry", apples and oranges. bye now
I'm currently on the $30 walmart plan and the 100min calling limit is starting to be annoying.
Since it's just me all the regular family plans don't apply, I really don't want to pay $70 a month for a cellphone plan.
*I just did this switch for my wife a few weeks ago, she doesn't hit the talking or data limit for the past 10 years so I figured I'd save $5 a month*

However, I don't want to lose Binge-On and hotspot...
Or just load up $40 or $100 at a time like the other guys on here recommend. No risk at all. All you are doing is tying up your money which could be used elsewhere. Paying bare minimum each month is ideal.
