I have this processor and this thing has benchmarks much better than the i9-11900k, the last gen i9. It only comes lower than AMD 5950x on multi-core performance and maybe i9 12900k. I've been using it for the past month and this thing is a beast.

If you plan on going with this processor, keep this in mind:
It depends on what you are using it for. For just gaming, i think i5 12600K is more than enough to run modern titles but some people with extra cash would get i7 for extra performance cores which would be more "future-proof" compared to the the i5 and also gives few frames boost on the games (although it might not be very noticeable while you play). If you compare the benchmarks, there's not much performance boot on i7 vs i9 for gaming (they are almost the same) and putting the price difference into factor, there's not much value in getting the i9. If you are budget go for i5, if you have some extra cash got for i7. Go for i9 if you work on CPU-intensive tasks like running the file encryption and decryption all day long and don't care about money.

If you have i9 9900k currently and want to upgrade, maybe wait for the next CPU and also see what AMD has to offer in their upcoming lineup this year. If you are thinking about buying a new 9900k, i'd recommend not to because these new processors benchmark way better. If you have microcenter near you get a CPU from there, it's always cheaper in microcenter.

If i am right Z690 P has two flavors. One with Wifi one without Wifi. Tuf has wifi 6. P is a more basic version from what i heard. Tuf is a gaming motherboard. Features will be different. Check all the features like SATA port, pci interface, ports. Performance will be more or less the same. All said and done having DDR5 version instead of DDR4 is better unless you think of replacing the mobo in the future. And as a combo deal this is good.

I got my CPU on microcenter for 350, I believe you can get it as low as 300 with signup bonus and stuff.
Took a risk on amazon warehouse for Asus Prime Z690-A DDR5 mobo, got it for 198, came open box but it was good as new. With ram shortages, I thought people are returning the DDR5 boards back to amazon because they cannot find RAM. Also, got basic crucial DDR5 4800 off B&H photo video the day it was available a month ago at 137 for 16 gigs.

Could have used this about two weeks ago damn. Just make sure you guys buy a cooler, or a retrofit kit unfortunately for me corsair sucks and takes 6 weeks to ship out some screws so I ended picking up a new cooler.

Don't all ASUS z690 boards come with LGA1200 mount? On my prime Z690-A I had 2 holes that would take both LGA1200 and LGA1700 brackets. My thermaltake 1200 mount fits in there perfectly.

I've also seen some bad reviews on asus Z690-P. So you might want to reconsider.

Definitely much better, but in the real world I imagine it would be extremely hard to notice a difference, unless you were frequently doing CPU-intensive tasks, such as encoding video. For gaming, your money would be much better spent on a video card upgrade if you're running an older or lower-end card.
