Was on the fence for a little while after watching some reviews and seeing some earlier posts here, and decided to buy it but looks like it's now OOS/Backordered

How does this compare to the latest gopros?
You should compare Insta360 ONE X2 with latest Gopro.

I have this and it's great for quick shots and to get interesting angles for social media. Honestly, you should not be filming for 30 minutes on this thing.

not sure why misinformation is top-voted in this thread.

I have go 2 since last summer, the default shooting time is no way 15 seconds (only in the case of slow mo maybe)...continuous recording time in Pro Video mode is 10 minutes or 15 minutes in standard mode.

It does get hot after 10 to 15 minutes but cools down quickly and is ready to shoot again in a minute or two.

I have a two gopro 8, but when it comes to utility, nothing comes close to go 2. Gopro is better suited for more extreme sports, but is way heavier than go 2. This thing sticks to your cloth or hat without looking intrusive...I take kids' videos all the time, I don't think I ever needed to record more than 10 minutes to capture the precious moments.

$200 is a steal.

Your consumerism just convinced me to buy one. 😂

These are used for FPV drone flying. They still have overheating issues with 4 blades blowing air over it.
Good that you're only flying for 3 minutes then Wink

I own this camera for FPV flying and the occasional little clip. I bought it because the youtube shill reviews were pretty convincing,
but I can't recommend it at all. My big gripe isn't battery life, overheating, or limited storage (like most) but that the record button is too sensitive and this camera is wildly unreliable in my experience. The image quality is horrendous without a lot of post production work, and you'll need to use the insta360 ap or program on your computer to get any usable "high quality" footage. FWIW I make action sports videos for a living, and I hate GoPros with a passion. Compared to this camera, though, I'd take a GoPro.

Drone blades shoot air downwards and 99% of the times these cameras are pointed on top of the drone were the air blades wont cool it.

In that case, what cameras do you like for action sports videos? I'm not in the market any time soon, but I probably would have just gotten a GoPro without thinking about it.

I think they slow up to 30 min now but it will warn you about potential overheating but i think that was also if you want 1440p or maybe they warm you for 1080p too can't remember. Should be fine for colder climates though.

One of the biggest gripes for me is the file transfer. At launch it wouldn't let you just extract direct from the camera via cable. Had to be through Wi-Fi transfer. I forget if this is possible now or if there are work arounds.

If you want to rely on this alone for a trip, better off getting a GoPro with expandable storage and swappable batteries. This is really tiny though and is a lot easier to carry around or wear. It comes with a magnetic necklace attachment and a ball cap clip mount that is also magnetic. It's very low profile and you can get a darker skin for the camera if you want to stand out less.

It beats having to take your smartphone out and record something. Literally just tap or double tap to whatever you set it to. You can even customize the actions so double tap becomes record and single tap becomes photo or vice versa. You don't even need to boot it on as you can set it to record or take a photo immediately from off.

You can set different record or photo modes when it's on too. The camera can also be controlled from the charging unit. Just mount the camera somewhere magnetically by itself or with a mount, walk away and hit record from the charger.

I wouldn't rely too much on the magnets for any rough activities like mountain biking but custom mounts for these are small and you can get some nice angles without needing too much space.
