Someone in one of these threads posted it's Top Tier but I don't know that for a fact.

I have been a BJ's member for many years and a Costco member for about 6 months. they are around 5 miles apart. Gas prices are pretty much within a penny of each other.

Not sure about Costco but BJ's gas opens at 6AM near me so I go on the way to work when there's no one there and I am in and out.

If you have the BJ's CC you get $0.10/gal off of gas. They also have promos on certain items from time to time -"Octane" items that give you $0.10/gal off at your next fill up.

Other comments on the 2;

I like costco for general variety and their take and bake selection which is nice. Costco is often higher-priced for comparable items and sometimes costco only has "organic" or "free range" options which I DGAF about but have to pay more for since that's the only think Costco sells. costco has a better clothing selection IMHO. costco also has a food court which I grab pizza from time to time; I don't think ANY BJ's does any more.

some of my opinions on costco relate more to "grass is greener" as I have been a BJ's member for probably 10+ years.

BJ's accepts manufacturer Q's as well as their own. They OFTEN have overlapping coupon promos and you can get some things for great discounts this way. BJ's shows accurate in-store pricing on their website and app and costco most certainly does not. BJ's has buy online/instore and curbside pickup. I don't believe Costco does. BJ's also has express pay which is where you use your phone to scan items, pay and walk out. No waiting in line for registers.

Oh yeah and one super annoying thing Costco does is constantly move stuff. It's their strategy to make you wander around and buy more but it's super frustrating when you walk in to get something you saw a few days prior and you have to walk all over the place to find it.

Costco max rebate is 4% if you have their CC, BJ's is 5%.

I go to both - Costco for items only sold there and BJ's for more common weekly grocery stuff.

Same as anywhere else. It's not 'Top Tier' rated, but gas is pretty much gas as long as they aren't dumping water in it.
Top Tier is a marketing organization. Each company pays a fee to display the Top Tier logo. The gas all comes from the same place, but TT suppliers are supposed to add extra detergent into the truck's tank before delivering it. Most brand names (even non-TT brands), add their extra detergent. Maybe TT adds more (maybe not) than some non-TT brands. Also, each TT brand is not the same. Some may add more than the minimum TT amount. Also, each brand will add their detergent mixture, so two TT brands may have the same amount of detergent, but a different formulation.

Anyhow, this is currently posted at Top Tier's website, so you may be getting plain gas (with the min EPA's level of detergent that is in the gas the suppliers fill all the trucks with) at some TT sites.

I have no idea if BJ's adds detergent to their gas to bring it up to TT levels but just doesn't pay the TT licensing fee to keep prices down.

=======

We are navigating through unprecedented times. Disastrous weather conditions and unplanned additive production operational outages have resulted in some of our TOP TIER™ Detergent Gasoline Fuel Marketers being unable to supply gasoline with the approved detergent at the approved dosage. The TOP TIER™ program is committed to working with its participants and the industry in managing through this in the best way possible and to return to supplying gasoline fully meeting the TOP TIER requirements as soon as possible.
As this shortage is expected to last through the end of the year, you may see some gas stations noting they are unable to supply TOP TIER™ Gasoline at this time. The brand will still be listed on www.toptiergas.com as this will not apply to all stations.
The TOP TIER™ Detergent Gasoline program, its Automotive OEM Sponsors and its Fuel Marketers remain committed to gasoline quality, minimizing the impact of the shortage and returning to providing gasoline that meets the TOP TIER™ requirements as soon as possible.

The app is nice to use to skip the lines, unless you buy like 7 items, then they end up scanning like five anyway at the door. lol

Yeah I just found out there was one in Madison heights mi which is about 15-20 minutes but if the offer isn't good there neither is my money lol
Same.
I'm a Costco member and go to the Madison Heights store.
I'd like to try the Madison Heights BJs warehouse since it's less than a mile from Costco but I don't want to have to deal with the membership hoops to try to get them to let me in.

I did see the other post saying that they will let you in if you go to the service desk and ask.

But if they don't I really don't want to go through that.

I don't know why these stores on the list are it seems always not included in the membership deals.

It's actually kind of off-putting to the brand for me.

Why try to be so exclusive?
With the Madison Heights store there is a Costco and a Sam's Club within a mile of their store. It's like a Golden Triangle of Warehouse clubs.
If they let me in with a good deal on the membership I might want to spend my money there.
As it is I shop at Costco, my brother gives me a yearly membership for Yule when he and his wife renew their membership.

I got in on the deal also. That was during black friday of last year though. I have been using the $10 on propane refill; haven't tried it on gas yet.

I have both costco and bjs. I find myself at bjs way more often now. Here is why:

Its about 2 miles from costco.
I can barely find a parking spot at costco. There are usually about 50 cars and anywhere from 40 to 200 people in bjs. Try a 1000 at the costco here.
Good luck getting gas within a timely matter now that gas prices are high and bjs and costco gas is about 20 cents cheaper than everyone else around here.
Id say bjs meat, fruit and veggies are not as good, but they do come in smaller quantities than costco.
The frozen section seems to be about the same quality and price.
I do like that they have smaller options on lots of things.

Negatives:

Its not as nice.
Check out seems to take longer even though there is no one in there. (Mostly self check out)
You have to download the app and manually clip coupons. (Like the old costco way)

Ill be renewing mine when its times.
No, my offer expired last week. We just signed up. I already have a membership that expires the end of next month so we waiting till the end and signed up my wife. Honestly, i go into both BJs and Costco and walk out with nothing most of the time, when i do. We're only 2 in this house and there really isn't many things worth buying there for us. The gas is much cheaper. Yes, Costco is Top tier, which is better, but the lines at the pumps there are far worse, and I'm tired of their "preferred credit card" bs. BJ's price on gas is just as good, and i also get Propane there cheaper than anywhere else. I did buy a Patio heater and a Firepit from BJ's last month at great prices, but other than that it's mostly gas and propane for me

Ill keep an eye for that deal again and sign up even if mine isnt expired. They give you 60 for spending 20; its a no brainer.

I also bought the square fire pit. Thats why I have to keep going back to bjs, to refill my tanks! Haha.

Yea, i love mine so far. Gonna get some gemstones for it instead of the lava rocks. The Patio heater works well, too. It's the same as ones sold at HD and Costco for much more than what I paid

Just select a different BJ's if it asks you to pick a store. The membership will work at any one regardless.

What if I have a BJ's credit card associated with my membership? Can I still use your method?

Not sure. I don't have a BJ's credit card. Does the BJ's credit card have the membership number on the card? My guess is that you can change the membership number on the BJs regular site per above, and then see if you can also change the membership number on the BJ's credit card site. If the membership number is on the card, you will have to contact them to send you an updated card.

I thought it's more about the ethanol blend, which has an effect on the actual energy content. The higher the ethanol blend, the lower energy per gallon. Some stations are starting to use 15% ethanol blend vs 10%.
I don't believe you can actually dilute gasoline with water, since they don't mix, and the water would just settle at the bottom of the tank.
If it has 15% ethanol it will be labeled as E-15. I think anything more than 10% and they have to tell you what the content is. Some auto manufacturers specifically recommend against using fuel containing more than 10% ethanol. And I think the water comment was a joke.

why I dont see the $10/month wording in the listing at groupon or living social, it looks like it is 1 time reward
