If I wanted to get one first, which is better to upgrade? Oceania or European? Huge fan of the base game. Primary just play 2 player with my wife.

The digital version of this game is phenomenal. Makes it difficult to go back to the board game. Digital is still catching up to expansions though.

Both expansions provide new birds and bonus cards. Oceania expansion gives nectar as a new "wild" resource and a new player board with slight modifications. If you want more of the same, go with European expansion. If you want more modified experience (but doesn't take away from the original) then get the Oceania expansion. In my opinion you should get both at some point as the extra bonus cards, round end goals, and new bird powers make the game more interesting.

I would agree with you. Euro is much more similar. We have both expansions but are still feeling out the euro expansion before moving on to Oceania. The digital version is about to add the Euro expansion (I play it on switch).

Euro expansion adds "round end" (teal) and "game end" (yellow) powers that trigger at those times

There is special scoring just for nectar. For two players, it might not make much of a differnce. For four players, being able to use nectar as a wild food really makes a huge difference and adds variety as well as increase scoring to the game.

I personally would buy both.

I found the base game to be crazy complicated and quit playing maybe 30 minutes in. Then again, I was playing the Switch version.
