I've been eyeballing that $299.00 R7G5 for the same uses. Just streaming shows and movies. I just lost the backlight on an old budget 50" Hisense after 8 years of constant use plus it started life as a Walmart display model. Can't even imagine how many hours were on that thing!!!
Never owned Hisense before and that's why I am a bit hesitant. Looks like it's a reliable brand. I am almost ready to hit the final checkout button. It shows a 3 yr warranty on this item on costco website too!

hisense has come a long way... but for $150 more, you're getting a HUGE improvement that'll last you quite a while.

Besides better features and picture, do higher end TV's actually last longer than budget models?

I see the one in OP is just $150 more, still a lot inexpensive as compared to other brands. Will study the details and buy one of these. Thanks.

Costco warranty says 3 years , this one I suppose will be 1 yr, but with probably a lot belter specs.

I don't know about that, but I was thinking about picture quality, rather than quality itself.
The one thing about Sony/Samsung, is that their software may be updated for longer.
I bought a hisense in 2017 or so, and they keep updating the software still which is awesome.

The Hisense 55U6GR5 should also be in the mix @ $450 w/ 3 yr warranty. It also qualifies for the Hisense $100 food promotion where the R7G5 and H8G1 don't.
