I have this bench
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002QJZAE4/
Had it since 2014 and now the fabric is ripping and I want to replace.
Its been fine for everything but does not go 90 degrees for military press.

How is the material on this bench ? What about stability, does it wobble any? Using it on carpet.
Any better recommendations or options under $200?

If you are at all serious about stability get this Xmark refurb and use code xmark20.
Comes out to $164. These benches are fantastic. I've had one for 8 years or so.

Agreed, if your workouts are so hardcore that 85 degrees won't cut it, but 90 will, then this probably isn't your bench Smilie

I switched to all-standing shoulder presses (or sometimes kneeling) many years ago. I found it's a little more forgiving on the shoulders, plus it forces more core stability. Easier to move your head out of the way of the bar, too.

I think it's weird that for this bench and all the other suggested benches I see when I look at this, each have 283 reviews.

This bench sucks. If your serious about your home gym spend double on a solid REP bench.

Because, as an adjustable incline bench, if it went to 90 then it would have no forward support and would be subject to flopping over in the wrong direction and possibly being damaged.

By staying slightly under 90, it can ensure that it never reaches that tipping point, and that the user's bodyweight will keep it pressed against it's only direction of support.

90 degree benches, including those that are adjustable, require bi-directional support and/or locking mechanisms. This style of bench uses gravity to stay secure. It does not have a locking pin.

For what it's worth, I bought this bench at the beginning of COVID restrictions for home use, for a similar price to this.

While a bench from REP is no doubt a solid choice, this bench has been incredibly reliable at a third of the cost.

For reference: I've had absolutely zero concerns about its strength or stability while benching over 315lbs regularly for years. Surely, if someone weighs 300lbs and is benching 500, I wouldn't personally be willing to test the "800lbs capacity" claims....but anyone who's even remotely on that level doesn't need to be told that.

For anyone who'd even remotely be looking for a bench for home use, this is almost certainly going to be sufficient. The people who need "more than this" already know who they are and almost certainly didn't even click to open this thread.

If anyone needs a bench and is reading this message, this is definitely a solid choice at a very reasonable (albeit not crazy-impressive) price.

Don't workout your OCDs on odd days. You have to work them out on even days or else they don't develop correctly....

Thanks OP. I picked one up. I don't have the room for a large station, but this will help me get in a few extra exercises.
