What will you be servicing when the phone number is with another carrier / provider? There is no such thing as canceling service with existing carrier, when you port out, especially for a prepaid provider. If it is postpaid, there is possibly a final bill for any outstanding payment.

I hope you understood my question. My port was already completed, which should be considered as service no longer utilized.

This puts Boost at much lower credibility than where it already is.
Hi coolchicagoguy,

I was responding based on the original comment you were responding to. They claimed to have issues where they were still being charged due to them canceling service before porting out. You mentioned your account still showing as active I'm just telling you to double check with care that you wont be charged anything extra after your port since it is still showing as active and auto pay is the standard method of payment on most accounts. I would not want you to be charged for services you are no longer receiving,

To your point once you have ported out then you should no longer be charged since this is prepaid. However, considering you still see an active account I would just make double sure. Hopefully that clarifies my previous response a bit.

Is there a window (wait period of sorts) until the account shows deactivated AFTER a number is ported out? Example - Visible deactivates the account immediately after you port and it shows right away online. I was told by your Customer Care that it will show as inactive in a few days. How soon is that typically?

I'm still able to login to the account associated with a number that I activated on December 15. I ported that number out in early January to Xfinity, and then from Xfinity to Visible in April. There's nothing in my Boost account that shows the number being deactivated. I had a virtual card in the account which I removed at some point. However it looks like I could still theoretically make a payment if I added a new payment method

Last night I inserted SIM to my phone, and it just did not work. Could not register the SIM on boost mobile network. Tried online chat and could not reach a live representative available. So chatted again in the morning, still same.

From home page www.boostmobile.com, I clicked "SignIn" which directed me to myaccount.boostmobile.com. With the phone# and the PIN (which was set up by myself when placing the order), I received "Warning! You have 2 attempt(s) left before your account will be locked temporarily." Click "Forgot your PIN" which will send me a SMS, while the SIM not working yet.

The trick here is to click "Don't have a PIN?" which will take me to id.boostmobile.com. I could then use my email address and the code sent to my email to gain access. Now set up my password, as this became the only way to access my account online.

I could never login my account from the homepage, the PIN I set up will simply not work. I have to go above detour to reach the URL id.boostmobile.com which has no link from home page.

How to make SIM card work on my phone
----
I have a sprint phone and an AT&T phone (both Android), neither will work when I pop in the SIM although it was pre-activated. Online chat is none existence to me, day or night. Called 833-502-6678, and now this time my PIN worked. The rep is helpful, who walked me through to create 2 APNs. After that, the SIM works on my phone.

In settings -> networks -> mobile network -> advanced -> access point name, I created two APNs below:

1)
Name: ereseller
APN: ereseller
MMSC: mmsc.mobile.att.net
MMS Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: default, mms, supl, fota, xcap
APN protocol: ipv4/6
APN roaming protocol: ipv4/6
APN enabled
MVNO type: GID
MVNO value: 3432

2)
Name: resellermht
APN: resellermht
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
APN type: dun
APN protocol: ipv4/6
APN roaming protocol: ipv4/6
APN enabled
MVNO type: GID
MVNO value: 3432

Remember to save them individually.

The 1st APN was selected automatically, and phone displays a SMS which I sent to myself last night.

Unless you have a boost phone, or you are sort of a techie, it may be challenge to make the SIM card work for you.

SIM activated before delivery is not the sign for a good service. I cancelled it two weeks later but continue to receive billing notifications. Let's hope I would not have to change my credit card number.

I enrolled in the deal as above; prior to porting out i called and got my account number and pin. I attempted to port into mint mobile and got road-blocks after road-blocks. I called customer service and they told me there is an "inconvenience" and i have to go to a PHYSICAL store to port out (first i ever heard of this, so i played along, went to a store and they said "you arent a customer anymore, cant help you" (when you attempt to port into a new service; they give you a "temporary number" to use until the port is complete; so you are in "no man land"). Anywho... still waiting for this to resolve.

Ive ported from t-mobile -> mint mobile, ultra mobile, and all these other wireless carrier and first time i've had an issue like this. DONT fall for the trap.

buyer beware - The customer service of boost mobile is one of the worst I have experienced.
The day at&t turned off 3g, voice stopped working on my parents phone (data works on 4GLTE).
I spent hours on various calls trying to troubleshoot. Since they dont operate their own network, their troubleshooting skills is limited to restart/ redo apn/ swap sims etc which takes 30-40 min (after you get a live agent).
It then transferred to tier 2 (which is at&t basically) and apparently the people on that side are not technical enough to help either nor you can talk to them directly.
I then tired to port out (paid for 1 year service initially but since boost cannot fix the voice calling (in/out) issue), we attempted to port out.
After spending hours trying to get right pin and account number, it still didn't work as other operator couldn't recognize the pin boost keep telling us to use.
lastly, we just gave up and parents got new service/ new number; The original number is still on boost and only data works so far.
I plan to raise this issue via bbb or other 3rd party so we can port out the numbers but learnt the lesson not o EVER use their service in future (even tough ,heard they coming up with dish 5g plan soon as dish network goes live in near future).

My experience with them was absolute garbage. Their SIM didn't work on an unlocked Samsung phone and their customer service kept trying to send me back to Samsung customer service saying it wasn't actually unlocked. It was and I just gave up trying with them after 3 months.

So let me get this straight:

1. They activate the plan before you receive the shipment
2. Their website is trash and doesn't even accept sign ups "Please enter a valid email". And has been like that for ages.
3. They have a special Port Out Pin that no one else in the industry has.
4. They require you to call from a different phone (other than the one you are calling about) to get the Port Out Pin.
5. After you deactivate the plan, it still shows active for months.
6. From a phone, the sign in is your password and your email but from a browser it's the phone number and the 4 digit pin. How is that secure at all? a 4 digit password and the phone number that everyone knows? Jesus.

What kind of boomer is at the leadership of this company that signed off on all these backwards rules?

Never again.
