Near as I can tell, no drones have been certified (DJI Aeroscope is *not* FAA compliant in spite of what DJI fanboys say) and no Remote ID modules exist in the US. This is kind of astonishing given that the deadline is only 6 months away.

I am slow to spend a kilobuck on a drone when the manufacturer is just saying, "don't worry, be happy."

Bonus you don't have to register it with the FAA.

they cannot.
any manufacturer can brick an electronic device with over the air software updates but dji can no more ground a drone that doesn't have remote id, just like it cannot ground a stolen drone.
a manufacturer would be foolish to sell a piece of equipment and in a few years, disable it so it doesn't work claiming the law told it do so, in america they would be sued AND a lot of credit cards will be giving the money back. doesn't matter what the law says the government can't order businesses to disable drones, cars, boats, planes, etc. can the faa declare the entire airspace restricted and disallow all drone flights? yeah if you're in china or russia.
