Just used this stuff a week ago and the clover and other weeds are all alive and well! I'm the words of Ave, "garbage!"
Did you follow the instructions and apply it while the ground was moist and also not rain for 24 hours? It's important so the chemical can actually attach into the leaf blades. Normally takes 2 weeks to kill if you follow instructions. Also you typically need a dedicated chemical for clover/oxalis, triclopyr works great. Takes two weeks

Much appreciated! Thanks for the reply! Moved into a new house last year and it has clover and dandelion so I will probably still grab this. There are a few spots on the front lawn that have crab that I need to take care of. Any recommendations?

The weed killer active ingredient requires grass to be wet in order to get the granules stick to it. These are not ideal conditions for fertilizer as wetness increases burn potential depending on drought stress. Better keep weeding separate from feeding.

Yep. Didn't work.

Dude it mentions two particular things it kills in big letters on front. "CLOVER". Go away, shit doesn't work as advertised.

Crabgrass is best treated by putting a preemergent down (in areas that freeze) because you can stop it from starting. Once its growing its much harder, you basically need a liquid killer to attack the growing surface of the leaves, granules dont do much against crabgrass. Find a liquid hose attachment weed killer, there are several decent brands that use the same crabgrass killing chemical which is primarily quinclorac. Just do it before it gets hot out, using spray on killers can take out turf too once it gets too warm.

Careful this totally killed my grass, I picked it up at Costco not knowing that it isn't for all grass types. Check your grass types I had to use southern lawn weed and feed after reseeding

A few ways to fight crabgrass, but be warned...you will never be 100% rid of the stuff no matter what:

1) Keep the lawn dense - keeps out most weeds in general...if you ever see crabgrass thats growing in a middle of a pile of dirt...youll see what happens when theres no competition, lol.

2) Pre-emergent - the basic ones are things like Halts (which is in Scott's "step 1" fertilizer. Apply this (and the other pre-emergents like prodiamine) when land becomes consistently around 55 degrees. Use https://www.greencastonline.com/t...emperature or a cheap meat thermometer. Too early, and the stuff breaks down...too late, and the crab grass has already rooted. You wont see it until July, but when it comes...its horrible.

3) Post-emergent - Tenacity is the best in the business for this. Good video about this stuff - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWNM1Wafsvk Takes a while to work so dont expect this to work miracles right before that backyard party.

4) Just rip the stuff out by hand (it really isnt hard to pull off)

I have taken care of my lawn since day 1 of moving to my home, and it looked like a garbage dump in year 1. I am now in year 7, and the last remaining issue I have is grubs. But weeds and crabgrass gone!

As for other weeds, here are the common chemicals (all post-emergent):

1) 2-4D (the stuff in this SD) - good for general purpose broad leaf weeds...low toxicity so its hard to mess up using it. I dont recommend using 2-4D in granule form unless you can time the rain very well. It will not work on crab grass, and it wont work on poison ivy.
2) Tricloptyr - More expensive than 2-4D, works well on clover and woody weeds (rogue oak saplings, forsythia, etc)
3) Tenacity - The same stuff as mentioned above. Works very well, but it is expensive

Good luck!

Better stock this up in fall when prices drop under $18 for this same product. I have 2 years worth of weed without feed stocked at $3 for each 5000k coverage bag.
Ditto — purchased 10 bags of the 15,000 sq ft bag for $10 each at Walmart in October 2021.

Nonetheless this is a good price in the Spring ramp up of lawn care.

Don you think fertilizer will looses its effectiveness when stored over years ?
The general answer is no, fertilizer does not go bad if it is properly stored. Fertilizer is made up of a variety of natural minerals and elements that do not break down over time allowing you to store your unused fertilizer from year to year.

Tenacity is not good on all grass types though. For example, it will take the color out of Burmuda and make your grass white.
