These things are awesome and they work great. I haven't had any issue with a chlorine smell; you can smell it, but it's not overpowering. Might be an issue for a poorly ventilated or smaller bathroom though.

As for refills, they sell Clorox tabs that are meant for hot tubs that fit into these containers just fine, no breaking needed. They're cheap as can be and don't need to be replaced all that often.

Edit: should add, I use the brominated tablets, which have a lower odor. They're still highly effective at cleaning, so if odor has been an issue consider using these:

Strong like bleach or ammonia? Looks like you can put anything in it. Chicken bullion cubes, moth balls, hard candy, that Irish Costco butter

It goes straight into the toilet only. It's the entire point. Just clicking on the link would quickly show that

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank Rokket

The system with 2 refills is ~50% lower than 3 refills.

Tried this a couple of months ago, holy smokes does it smell strong. Not going to refill the cleaning agent. Also not sure it may much / any difference.

Now that I think about it, I dislike this thing all around.

I bought these from the last deal and I agree with the smell. I didn't really notice it, but my kids did. After awhile the smell kinda went away or we all got used to it. I must say that this thing actually works. It's only been a few weeks, but the toilet bowl is still looking like I just cleaned it.

I just put these on our 2 toilets a month or 2 ago and they seem to work fine. I only notice the smell if I have to flush twice in a row for some reason. And in that situation I would rather smell cleaner than poop. Both of our toilets are brand new so likely low volume flush. Maybe the smelly ones are older toilets that use more water? I have also seen complaints about leaky tablet reservoirs so maybe it's slowly leaking into your tank and giving you a bigger hit. Seems like this device is a YMMV kind of thing.

BUT... did it perform well?
I always thought Kaboom products were mainly "Show"

I use the exact same bromine tablets with all of mine. Way less expensive and work well but they are hard to find in stock.

The shower cleaner worked really well 15 years ago.

Don't these rot out the rubber parts in the tank?

May I know how do these compare to the Clorox bleach toilet tablet where you just need to put it straight into the tank without having to attach anything?

Does the cleaning water sit in the tank... Or go straight into the toliet.. I'm against products that stay in the toliet tank, it ruins the inside guts of toliet. Thanks.

I did.. I was just double checking from someone who's used it before. Thanks for confirming. I appreciate it.

I have been using these for a few years now and they work great. They definitely go straight into the toilet bowl and bypass your tank. That is the whole idea of using this unit.

I bought these bromine tablets and they will last forever. Looks like the price has doubled on the tablets now.

I wish I could find the dispenser for cheaper cause even though I paid $7 each for them several years ago, that seems expensive for the dispenser.

All that said, these are regular price and no idea why it's made FP.
