Shoot, I just ordered from Seattle Coffee Gear for $679. Do they do price match to Philips? Is it a lot of hassle to save that $40? lol

Is it a pain in the ass to clean?
Not at all, I wash drip tray every other day, brew unit weekly, lubricate once a month

Great machine. Scored it on a Sur La Table deal. We're heavy drinkers and knock out usually 4-6 cups a day. Worked flawless with just a bit of love. Very happy with ours and the lattego is a great feature.

Can anyone provide a review/comparison to the resulting espresso of this machine vs Breville products such as the Barista Espress or the more expensive Barista Touch?

https://www.breville.com/us/en/pr...80BSS1BUS1 [breville.com]
I use the express - its semi-auto. You need to tamp your own portafilter and dump the grinds out of it. Gives you more flexibility to control how much you want in it or how dense it is. the barista touch is the same thing except with a touch screen and auto milk frother. the express requires you to do your milk frothing.
The oracle touch is super-auto so it'll tamp and froth automatically. compare to the philips - you'll still need to move the portafilter over and dump though.

it's all a matter of degrees in how much automation you want. less automation is more tedious and messy but it lets you do thing on your own. unless you have or want to learn barista skills, just go super-auto

How often do these type of things release? This model is 3 years old.
Home appliances aren't Iphones, you should expect them to last 7-10 years or longer. Philips/Saeco releases small tweaks to their superautomatics espresso machines almost every year, but they are small quality of life changes like user profiles. I would expect a particular model to stick around for 5+ years and would not hesitate buying reliable hardware. An espresso shot is an espresso shot.

FYI - The underpinning technology behind all of these Philips superautomatic machines (their brew unit or brew group) is over 7 years old and might not change in the next 7 years.

There is a newer version that was released last year, the 4300 and the 5400 (exclusive to Williams Sonoma). I bought the 5400 last September (actually in July but it was backordered until September) and am very happy with it, I use it multiple times a day, every day since September and love it. Easy to use & easy to clean.

You'd need to do some research on if you'd prefer the 3200, 4300, or 5400 to see what will be the best option. For me it was mainly
- better and more intuitive UI
- "profiles" for storing multiple users (if you have different preferences for the same drinks
- more drink options (4300 vs 5400 differ but both have more than 3200 including milk froth only option)
- extra shot (only 5400)

that was my justification for getting the higher model, ultimately I ended up not needing the multiple profiles as everyone likes it the way I like it so no need to change the settings. I also don't typically use more drink options much but occasionally I do use the milk froth only option. For me even though I only hit 2 of my 4 uses on a daily basis I do not regret my decision.

thanks and repped for this, I had previously been looking at the breville options because I want something automatic,, sounds like this philips might be what I'm looking for, plus it's black, matching all my other appliances, apparently this is hard to find in higher end coffee things :/

I originally wanted a 2 in 1, because "americanos" aren't the same as drip coffee to me, but more importantly, I didn't want to have to make an espresso EVERY TIME I just wanted a coffee....

but if this philips is truly as automatic as it looks like it is, I have no problem going this route!

One question tho, what is the height of this thing? I found the dimensions on the page, but it doesn't indicate which is L W or H and I wanna make sure it fits under my cabinets.

yeah aside from the oracle touch - breville won't have a one-button americano program. all espresso machines are quite big but the philips is one of the smaller super-autos. scg's got your dimensions. https://www.seattlecoffeegear.com...so-machine
