I'd rather go with the Amazon every day essential Bumper plates at 67.50 each than irons for a little less.

I have these, ordered from Amazon for 55$ (69$ now) listed brand was Sporzoni! They are fine, thinner than my other plates. They are rough when gripping but no big deal. Some comments said it wouldn't fit their bar but mine do just fine. Cheap but they do the trick for me.

I would guess cast iron plates would be priced similarly to steel, so not even close to a MM.

This says steel scrap is $0.29/lb and you would be paying $1.25/lb for the weight, so it looks like the only money makers here would be the scrap yard, Walmart, and BalanceFrom and they would make money from you.

There is a section lower down that quotes Iron. In my state, Wisconsin, its $1.55/lb

That chart is nonsense. The whole site seems to be unreferenced clickbait nonsense. You'll be laughed back to the parking lot if you show up at a scrap yard with cast iron thinking you will get that kind of price.

https://www.priceofscrapmetals.com/wisconsin/ which is the same site's page when you click Wisconsin, shows cast iron at $0.17 a pound.

https://www.scrapmonster.com/scra...-scrap/656 says national index for 100 pounds of cast iron scrap is $15.02.

Steel and cast iron are both 98%+ iron. They won't differ much in scrap price.

Not sure this is even a sale. Most likely a low quality product at not a great price. I generally try to get dumbbells at $1/lb or less, if I'm buying plates for more than that they better be really high quality.
