Might as well just buy a car seat from buybuybaby and use their 20% off coupon all day long. Buybuybaby also have a stackable promo running currently on car seats…$25 reward if you spend $100, $50 reward if you spend $200, etc.

Edit: the additional MyFund reward promo ended 2 days ago. The same promo comes back every month or two from what I've seen so far.

I would assume new safety regulations and plastic deterioration are some reasons...also....I'm sure there is some greed weaved in there as well

Make a note of the price right now for the seat you want to buy. Last time the seats I wanted somehow increased in their full price during the event. Not all did, but some did. So it was cheaper for me to buy it full price after the trade in event.

Buy buy baby, the same company as bed bath and beyond, are known to mark up almost everything they sell by 20%. You are usually netting no savings using their coupons. (Which is why you can find their coupons literally everywhere)

Has anyone confirmed if they give you an actual coupon/certificate like they did pre covid or are they doing the QR code on the box you put them into? If it's the latter would anyone mind posting a copy of this years QR code? Big Grin

I just googled how much plastic there is in a car. About 50% volume is plastic. About 10% weight is plastic. But cars don't expire in 7 years.

We have taken advantage of this when our oldest was able to move into a more regular booster and our youngest could have her five point harness booster. When we used it, it worked on whatever. At my local Target, you scanned a bar code after tossing whatever in. No one was really monitoring it so my guess is Target doesn't care too much - 20% event is probably paying for itself in increased publicity and sales from people opting to do this. We were not in a hurry to do our change, but saw the 20% and acted on it.

We have a few car seats and finding a place to recycle them is very tough. They have been sitting in my garage awaiting this event. Don't even care about the 20% off!

my city's sanitation department has been dumping recyclables into regular landfill since last year, due to "the pandemic".... as of March, they're still doing it... Frown

Exactly.. You would think ALL seat belt buckles and the dashboard that houses your airbags should also expire after 6 years.
