I have no experience with a denied claim, but I do have experience insurance buying an entire new car seat just because the base it was sold with (an infant-type seat where the base is permanently installed, but the rest of the seat goes with you) was in the car when my wife's car got hit and the base and the seat were all sold as a single car seat.

Insurance companies are definitely looking at the information on car seats and are constantly looking for reasons to deny claims. To your tire pressure example: If the insurance companies could access the system that said your tire pressure monitoring system had notified you of a low tire pressure for several days prior to the accident and the reason for the crash could be determined to be due to that specific tire blowing out because of the low tire pressure, I'm sure they would try to deny as much of the claim as possible. They can't deny based on what they don't know, but if something is clearly identifiable for the insurance company that someone knowingly did something wrong, then it's a safe bet that they're going to try to pass the buck as much as possible using Comparative Negligence.
