A lot of negative reviews when you sort by most recent. Defies the total rating. Interesting.
The Stronger By Science podcast had a recent episode that discussed some of the science of protein digestion and timing for athletes. Casein is only slightly slower digesting than whey. Other sources of protein like egg are much slower comparatively. Studies also seem to suggest that protein timing doesn't matter much at all, only total protein seems to be important (as long as you are getting a few luceine spikes per day).

Really? I purchased before and loved it. Did they alter the taste recently?

I'm not trying to be Buzzkill McGee or anything. I don't like it. Most people I know that's tried it don't either. I use it because it works frfr. So if you can get over the taste, it's a very good deal. Especially because of the cost per serving.

I found the bad taste comment odd as well. I loved it. Much better tasting than my protein.

Whey casein blends better if you use it in baking, protein ice cream, helps with texture. Although ive only tried quest and dymatize

Hi, somewhat of a newbie to all things fitness. I've recently started to workout to lose weight and gain lean muscle. Does whey/casein blend work better than just whey ?
I currently use Optimum Nutrition whey. Is this a better option that ON ?

Casien is used for long term slow release, usually its recommended that you drink a casein shake before bed so your muscle have something to feed from throughout the night on workout nights. a blend works just as well. i prefer blends over just casein since casein is gritty and not as smooth as whey.

Checked my order history and paid 24$ after coupon and tax last march for this. I really enjoyed the vanilla.

EDIT: old school thoughts are....
Whey isolate is fast digesting she recommended within 90 min of working out. Casein is the opposite. Other comment was right about people having casein at night. Since your just starting out you'll likely see changes no matter what as long as you keep your protein intake high and lay off the junk foods.
Once you get going though you can dial things in. As far as casein goes, I'd recommend Ascent. You can make a pretty decent pudding at night before bed.

The comment about bad taste is pretty weird. In my experience, Muscletech makes some of the best tasting protein I've ever had.

I actually go way above the recommended water servings for the shakes because I don't like mine thick, and they still come out great.

In fact, I couldn't imagine drinking a Muscletech protein shake with milk, it would probably taste TOO sweet for me.

The whey protein industry has doubled their prices compared to last year. So now Im only drinking protein shake after a workout and thats it. Only on workout days, 1 shake.

Will get the rest of my protein needs from real food such as whole milk, eggs, beans and meats. For years they threw whey down the toilet as a waste product of the cheese manufacturing process and then used clever marketing to hype it up as a "superior source" of protein.
