i'm looking for an intro level (but quality) drone for the intent of taking pictures on an upcoming trip we have to a lake in the mountains with falls, hiking, etc. goal is to get great shots (online social media quality or 8x10 prints at most0 from above with ease of use being critical. i was really hoping to stay in the $150-250 range.

Is that too low of a price point or are there other options or even an older used generation you would recommend i check out?

you can get a refurb mavic mini one at or below $200ish, which is a great first timer drone.

don't do what i did and fly it on a super windy day though...took it too far up in the air and it took permanent flight elsewhere. i am shopping for a mini 2 now to replace it. the mini's are great as they are less restrictive on flight height because of their weight, but the downside of that is what happened to me.

im holding out for the dji mini 3 right now. Which is SUPPOSEDLY going to be announced this month.

a mini2 refurb might be a pretty good deal for you. mini3 will be pricey.

Oh man, I was really looking forward to an Air2S deal, but probably won't happen until next year. Should I just settle for the Air2 because of the discounted price? My first drone but I'm concerned I might quickly outgrow it. Not sure if Mastershots and the bigger sensor is worth the price jump to Air2S. Frown

I missed out on the refurbished mini 2 fly more for $349 in February. Been looking but nothing in the $300s anywhere.

everything im seeing is the 3 will be more features i.e. more expensive. If it is a lot more im just gonna get the 2. Im also hoping the 3 brings the 2's price down as well. Fingers crossed...its still pretty cold and miserable near me so i have time

depends on if you want to go big on your first drone or not. imho, the air2s is a very nice drone (not super nice) and for some, it's a bit much for a first drone unless you're one of those that like to dive right in. but as you mentioned, the air2 will only hold you for so long and you will outgrow it much sooner than air2s. imho, the air2 is a mini2 with a bunch of nice to haves.
