For the first time in over 3 years, I'm posting a toilet paper analysis, as well as an updated Favorite Toilet Paper Ranking with several new toilet paper brands I have tested.
Early on during the COVID-19 pandemic, toilet paper may have been difficult to obtain for many people. However, despite stock shortages, toilet paper prices have not changed significantly and have mostly returned to normal as of 2022, so my purchase point of $0.00253 per sheet remains the same.
Price Analysis Bottom Line
With 15% S&S, at $15.90, the price is $0.00215 per sheet, which is an excellent price.
With 5% S&S, at $17.77, the price is $0.00240 per sheet, which is still a good price.
Quick Price References
Costco Wholesale's typical sale price on Charmin toilet paper is $0.00253 per sheet, which serves as the basis of my purchase point.
Do note that the Charmin toilet paper sold at Costco is slightly wider than the ones sold elsewhere.
Detailed Price Tracking
This spreadsheet of mine provides price tracking information, history, and other details.
General Price Analysis Notes
For toilet paper price calculations, I do not factor in sheet widths and square footage.
I am not comparing apples to apples, so to speak, and this brand may usually have a higher price than some other brands. Of course, there may be other, more personalized factors to consider, including warehouse club memberships; shipping fees; product quantities; subscription programs such as Amazon's Subscribe & Save and Target's Subscriptions; convenience of stores and locations; and availability of cashback programs.
Favorite Toilet Paper Ranking
The following may be TMI. And of course, this ranking shows my personal preference, so there's a high chance you may not agree.
Ranks 1 through 7 are of high quality; ranks 8 through 12 are of significant lower quality; and ranks 13 through 19 are generally not recommended.
(tied at #1) Charmin Ultra Strong
everything I ever wanted in a toilet paper
(tied at #1) Prince & Spring Ultra Strong (Boxed.com private label)
everything I ever wanted in a toilet paper
Prince & Spring Ultra Soft (Boxed.com private label)
great balance of almost as soft as Quilted Northern Ultra Plush and almost as strong as Charmin Ultra Strong
up & up Premium Ultra Strong (Target private label)
very similar to Prince & Spring Ultra Soft
Quilted Northern Ultra Plush Three-Ply
OMG - three ply! it really is plush. Softer than Charmin Ultra Soft, so some people may prefer this
Charmin Ultra Soft
excellent, but often the same price as Ultra Strong, which is more tear-resistant and stronger
Kirkland Signature Ultra Soft (Costco Wholesale private label)
it's a shame this has been discontinued; note that this not the regular Kirkland type
Peach Luxury Bath Tissue
thick, but not soft; breaks apart when wet
Presto! Ultra-Soft (Amazon house brand)
decent balance of soft and strong
Presto! Ultra-Strong (Amazon house brand)
strong, but too rough
Qsoft 2-Ply Super Soft Premium Bath Tissue
"Super Soft" and "Premium" only apply if it's opposite day
Kirkland Signature 2-Ply
in every way, the most generic toilet paper
note: its regular price is better than virtually all toilet paper deals
Cottonelle Ultra ComfortCare
this toilet paper is annoying; it seems okay until you notice the lint particles
Seventh Generation Bath Tissue, 100% Recycled Paper
similar feel as Kirkland Signature 2-Ply, but rougher and thinner
Who Gives A Crap 100% Recycled 3-Ply
breaks apart when wet; does not feel like 3-ply
Scott Extra Soft
prone to breakage; this is the only one-ply toilet paper on this list
Quilted Northern Ultra Soft & Strong
despite its name, it isn't strong, but it is soft
Angel Soft
not worth writing to angels about
Angel Soft Ultra Professional Series 2-Ply Embossed
somewhat rough, very thin, and "professional" if that means this is meant for business building usage
I hope this helps,
Tofu Vic

TP Calculator Link [tetrion.com]
This is what we generally buy from Sam's Club for my household. The nearest Costco is 45 mins away but we have Sam's Club abd BJ's nearby so we have memberships there.

Can someone confirm the Costco pricing/size/info on the calculator is still current? I suspect it is no longer the price point it was.
TofuVic, a toilet paper expert, thinks the "purchase point" is 0.253¢ per sheet.
Costco sells 30 rolls (2-ply w/380 sheets per roll) for $16.49 in warehouse (Kirkland Signature brand), which is 0.145¢ per sheet. Online the price rises to $18.99+$3 delivery fee for 0.193¢/sheet. This may vary by location as some locations may still be showing 425 sheets per roll (the old size).
According to Amazon, I apparently purchased it twice previously, and I do not recall any issues with it. Nothing is standing out in my memory, anyway, so it isn't a bad product. Presto is an Amazon house brand, in case you were not aware.

I posted 0.22 and 0.25 CENTS. Not $0.25 or $0.22 as you are suggesting.

The only kirkland TP online is $27 for 231x36. 0.32 cents.
The Members Mark brand is a much better deal, even at 235 sheets, though. I'm not knocking the Presto brand--just not as good of a deal.
