Do I need to keep the service active on the same phone or can I swap the sim to another phone?

no dont do that. Google Fi customer service can be lousy and you dont want to be doing anything to give them an excuse to deny $500 at the end of 4 months..

Isn't it better to get a google voice number of your choice, unlock it and use it for new customer promotion?

That's what I'd do and have done. It's $3 to unlock the number. There's zero reason to buy a number from eBay.

Seems samsung has too many chips lying around and hence they have discounted a new flagship phone so much. @Samsung, could you pls share some of your extra chips with car companies?
šŸ˜‘ Chips aren't interchangeable like Lego bricks. That's like asking Maytag to send car companies their surplus washing machine motors, if there was a motor shortage.

Had the same deal at s22 launch. I switched over and bought the s22 base version and have no regrets. I live in a rural area and get decent coverage. I don't use a lot of data and am paying less per month than I did with consumer cellular.
