Per the Promotion Terms:
Activate the phone on a new full service plan (data-only SIMs do not qualify) within 30 days of the shipment confirmation email and keep the qualifying phone active on Google Fi for 120 consecutive days.
In the past it meant the Fi SIM must remain in the phone. They will notice that the SIM is not in the S22 (even if it is active in another phone) and thus the promotion terms are not being met. In the past, they'll send you a warning email.

Would it be OK to turn off mobile data within the device settings?
Many here were saying they take the FI sim out and put it in the drawer.
I went through the process for a Black 256GB and that was estimated at April 16th, I just didn't like black as much.

And perhaps I misread earlier comment; if you removed the Fi SIM and replaced it with another SIM but are not using the Fi SIM elsewhere, it will probably be fine.

If it's still valid I'd appreciate if you could let me know. I was curious if what you did would work for me too.
However, when I go to FI Savings, I still see Steps 3 (New Fi member activates device within 28 days) & Step 4 (Transfer a number to Fi) incomplete. How long does it take for this to change? I would like to remove the SIM card and start using on a different network.
