Have you heard of google voice? That guy can make call over wifi for free, why not right?

Quote from Icemonkey :
If you use the sim card manager to turn off the physical sim, it requires a full phone restart for wifi calling to work in a no service area on the esim. Doesnt work immediately. Which is okay i guess if im traveling into a no service area but we all really just want it as a seamless fallback option

ive spent like 10 hours trying every trick in the book but now i know for sure its a samsung software problem. here's to hoping a random monthly patch will fix it

My setup is visible on the physical sim for unlimited data and verizon towers and mint on esim, which is my actual phone number and the only one i care about getting calls on

i did do the fi deal a couple months ago for the s22, but not using the service since the data is pricy.

i dont have any weird problems on my Pixel 4a 5g with the dual sim setup, but yeah other than the esim wifi calling problem and a couple other minor things, i like it a lot more

Have you happened to notice how many simultaneous hotspot connections the s22 allows when using Visible?

I use hotspot a lot and what I love about the 4a5g, and seemingly all Pixels, is they allow many devices to connect. I know Visible tries to allow only one device at a time on most Androids.

Thanks.

Nice! I'd trust that means it'll ship tomorrow. I've placed a few phone orders from Google Fi this year, because I couldn't make up my mind. They were all delayed but they all shipped within a day of my CC being charged for real. The other thing that changed was the status on the website. It went from:

to:

Plus the cancel button was gone.
The pending charge on my card is gone now - yesterday the shipping date went back to the 18th, and now it's showing June 1-8th 😭 Ah well, I guess I should just stop checking.

That's unfortunate. Sounds like it was the original authorization charge 😭.

They sure are doing weird things with the charges and shipping dates. I ordered a black 128GB S22 on 4/22, there were pending charges of $0.10 and $327.44 that same day, with est. delivery date of 4/27-4/29. A few days later, all the pending charges were gone and the delivery date pushed out a week to 5/4-5/6. It stayed that way until yesterday 4/30 when there was an actual charge of $327. 44 and same date of 5/4-5/6. I thought for sure they were going to ship on Monday 5/2. But today the date got pushed out a week to 5/11-5/13.

Sign up for Fi only creates your Fi account. Charge for the phone is made a day or two before the order status changes to Prepare To Ship. Monthly billing doesn't start until you activate the phone.

Some of us have an Amex offer for Google Fi, $25 off $50 purchase and can be done 3 times before 9/2/2022. Maybe if we use 2-3gb data, Amex will reimburse the extra spending 🤣

My Amex card just got that offer, but the $327 charge for the phone was made to another card just 2 days ago. Not sure from the terms of the offer if 2 monthly charges of $25+ would qualify (see attachment).

what do you mean not sure? clearly says "one or more" transactions. can someone breakdown the charges for 4 months? first charge is for the phone AND 1st month, or just phone? is the min plan with tax under $25?

based on the terms monthly charges might not be included? only purchase of the phone?

but who would purchase a phone every month, lol.

After doing a lot of research on reddit and other places, here is what I found. Hope it will help somehow.
- Putting Fi sim into another phone is definitely a big NO.
- After activated, take out the Fi sim and put it in a draw seems to work for many people but be aware there were reports of not so successful stories.
So I activated Fi's plan ($20) then turned off data so I won't get any extra charge.
After done that, I activate my tmobile services on eSIM and make it a primary SIM. Now I can use the phone without worry Fi sim is not active. Keep in mind that you can't active Fi on eSIM for Galaxy S22 now. In the future yes.
The only thing I'm worry now is what if I lost my phone and Google see my Fi sim is not active. Will my $500 be gone?
exactly what i am planning to do with Verizon on esim. i hope google wont mind that. whats safe/cheap place to port in from?

My 1st charge (made on 4/30) was for the phone + sales tax only. Won't get charged for the 1st month until I've received the phone and activate it. Data points in this thread from people who had activated the min plan said their bill was "around $25". Not clear if it's below or above $25.
