Anyone that complains about Hue- great. They clearly aren't for you.

I have a bunch of hue lights (that I've bought at reasonable sale prices over the years) and a few other brand outlets and lights. The Hue ones have been FLAWLESS and never given me issue. They work great with Alexa and Apple HomeKit.

They cost more than others but are definitely worth it.

Does hue stuff work natively in homekit? How good is the integration? I keep holding off on this stuff waiting on the 'native' iOS stuff to work well…. I use homebridge now and it's kind of annoying

With the Hue Bridge, yes it all works in Homekit.

I've been using the light strips for years. They work great and always connect. I have them working with both Alexa and Apple Home. Never had any issues. You need the bridge for everything to work, but once it's set up, it's flawless.

It also works well with IFTTT, automation within Apple, and routines within Alexa.

Thanks OP. Ordered 4.

These lights are super bright actually, 1600 lumens each. I use them in my basement gym betweejn the joists with diffusers and they light it up pretty well.

These are just the single color variant not the gradient right?

That's correct. These only support one color at a time.

I love my hues. But the issue I have is that the strips are pretty fragile if you move them around at all. I had 2 strips where the last half turned green, and would not change. Apparently if the lights are coiled or flexed too hard, this happens.

Never had that issue with govee, or 2 other companies I have around the house. But the others aren't nearly as reliable.

I own dozens of Hue bulbs but no HUE LED strips. Price is not the main reason, it's the short lengths that are supported which limit their usefulness. The newer 16' model is an improvement but other companies manage to support far longer distances than Hue on one wire.

What's the best application people use these for? Back of a TV? Top of cabinets? Underneath staircases.... What's your best application?

What other ones have you used? I also have Govee, Wyze, and GE and the Hues are the only ones that have ever given me trouble with basically every facet of their functionality. From not keeping color/theme changes, disconnecting from Alexa both at the device and hub level, all the way to the double sided tape on these strips being absolutely atrocious.

I would highly recommend the Wyze 16' Light Strip over this Hue 9' light strip any day of the week. Even before you start comparing the $20 price tag.

This is so true, if you have problems with hue. It is because you don't know what you're doing or you just like to post and wine when you can't troubleshoot something.

For almost all folks hue was extremely easy

Love the Hue ecosystem. Had a bunch of Magic Bulb branded smart bulbs that connected directly to the router and had nothing but problems. Switched to Hue and have had zero issues.
