It's basically a BotW clone with more cartoony graphics. Wish I could find my quotes on it, but using BotW as a base:
* has a narrator. Actively talks about what you're doing, occasionally mocks you. Occasional 'naughty' words, if that's an issue for you
* crafting is 4 potions. That's it. Once you figure out where the resources are, you'll never run out
* exploration is HEAVILY rewarded by dramatic power increases
* the mobs scale with your weapon power. This can be annoying if you go all in on attack and don't upgrade your defense. Better code would ratio these two, but you'll either figure it out or die
* mountains of visual upgrades, which I did enjoy
* It's UBISOFT, so they will try to upsell you on the expansions every time you log in. you never need to purchase a thing, but it does get annoying. The expansions are - a harder version of a similar story, an expansion to the main story, and a top-down new story. Reviews are all over the place but generally positive
* Combat is a lot more fun to watch/participate in than BotW because flight can be incorporated so easily. Combat also is not a major focus of the game
* the game is probably 85% puzzle. Of these, generally they will reuse over and over similar mechanics in different combinations. I love a good puzzle so I enjoyed the game
* the story is fairly heavy on Greek lore, so if you like that, you'll likely enjoy the take on the story
There is a demo. It's not quite the same as the game but close enough. If you like the demo, get the $15 game.

Combat is varied and fun. It *can* be a bit of a button masher (I recommend remapping your controls to a BotW style setup) but as you start unlocking different skills and move sets the combat can be wildly entertaining. You'll be launching, pulling yourself to the enemy mid-air and smashing them around GoW 1-3 style. Super satisfying once you get the hang of it.
My tips for new players. 1.) upgrade your exploration skills first. This will make running, climbing, swimming, gathering, all far easier. They're quality of life upgrades that will make your gaming experience far better. 2.) Ares Wrath. Upgrade it as quickly as you can. It can take difficult enemies and make them far more manageable. Not that any of the enemies are particularly hard, just that it can make some enemies less tedious.
Overall I highly recommend this game, and especially for this price. I have the complete edition on Switch and I've loved every bit of the 60+ hours I've spent in it. Very fun game. It's not BotW, even if you get some of those vibes, so don't expect that.
