Yeah. But it’s better to downgrade to a free card so your credit isn’t affected
04-18-2022 at 11:44 AM
yes but the yearly fee is charged like a week after opening account... from what I remember when I opened this card last year...

You can't avoid the annual fee for the first year. But it's a small fraction of the benefits you receive in return. You can cancel the card before, or just after the second annual fee hits and avoid it. Although you will lose your points if you haven't transferred them to an active account that supports Chase Reward Points (or externally to a travel partner.)

If you apply in branch you can avoid the initial annual fee. I did this last week and no fee was charged.

They went down to 60k points, back to 80k so I would say hold out. They probably realized they werent getting enough sign ups.

I just got the 100k offer in the mail
05-30-2022 at 06:40 PM
I just accepted the 100K offer on my app, already approved (not preapproved). I just had to go and accept it.
Before signing up for the 80k, if you have an account with Chase, make sure to check the app prior to accepting this. You may get this offer too.

The main ones are:
$300 travel credit (includes things like parking, so it's easy to use)
Global Entry every 4 years
1.5 x point value for travel vs 1.25
Priority Pass lounge access
Not sure if it's for new cardholders, but it may also include DoorDash Dashpass, a $5/month Doordash credit
If you travel a lot, CSR is worth it IMO.
I was thinking of going for the CSP offer, getting the points, then xferring the points (and credit) to the CSR to boost the value of the points when I cancel the CSP

Lucky you. I went to the store, it showed the same 80k offer. But I applied, just don't want to wait.
is spending time at a chase branch a garantee of getting the first annual fee waived or are you people seeing a poster on the windows of your branches stating that promo?

It should apply to every customer, but you should confirm with the employee doing the application for you. I can't imagine they'll say no to the annual fee waiver, if they do I'm inclined to think that they're misinformed.
Long time user of the Chase Sapphire Preferred card here. For anyone on the fence, benefits and overall value are great despite the nominal $95 annual fee. The bonus points after spending $4,000 is totally worth it if you know you have $4K in expenses coming up. For example, we put our wedding planning expenses onto the card and it helped fund our honeymoon flight. The points system is very generous if you dine out and/or travel a lot.
Does anyone here know if a credit check is pulled should existing Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders request an upgrade to the Chase Sapphire Reserved?

Fishscocks, how many years has it been since your last chase card sign up? it's probably just you.
Chase does not require a hard pull for a product change.

You do understand if you do a Product Change you don't get the bonus (Signup) points?

You're not allowed to have two Sapphire branded cards. In other words, I'm not eligible to sign up and get the bonus points with the Sapphire Reserve since I already have a Sapphire Preferred.

You can get the sign up bonus if it has been 48months since you last receive the sign up bonus. IF so perhaps you can downgrade to the chase freedom and apply for another Sapphire.
