Misinformation. The aluminum was $169.99 back then. I bought one, and I am telling you the G10 is better. The aluminum version is too heavy and defeats the purpose of a light weight EDC the bugout is.

Weight and size preference really. No doubt the Osborne is a nice knife but that's slightly larger and heavier.

Difference is that S30V vs 20CV steel. For $30 more the 20CV is a better blade.

It's definitely all personal preference. I myself like the aluminum a touch more. The lightweight design sort of makes up for the slightly heavier materials. I'm not the type to obsess over the weight though.

Just buy what you like people. That's the most important thing. I personally don't like advocating for clones as I think it is a disservice to the original designers but there are more affordable options as well. If you are looking for some pocket jewelry... Then maybe this is an option

Maybe you should go back to your prepper forums were a conversation like this is more appropriate. All I see you doing here is crapping on people which is just... A odd way to spend one's time if I'm being honest.

This is regular sale price - I paid $150 from this vendor in December 2020. Wasn't a fan of the Bugout, felt kinda flimsy and cheap which is surprising for a benchmade product. That said, it was very light and I assume it would stand up to a beating so other folks might like these elements. I ended up going with the Spyderco Para 3 and was much happier.

This ISN'T a normal price. This is the blade HQ exclusive with the 20CV blade not the S30V that comes on a standard bugout.

So no you didn't buy this from another vendor last December cuz no one else sells this one.

Bugout is a great summer carry, disappears in shorts... even lightweight material shorts. One of my fave knifes and I have lot of high-end EDC knives.

Yup, hate it when that happens. You could throw in something cheap to meet the $150. I think keychain flashlight for $5 is one of the cheapest fillers they have. Not sure if you need to hit $150 in KNIFE sales to qualify though.

This^ I have the aluminum version and it's a stunner - would not be out of place for someone dressed in a business suit. Great for EDC, so compact you hardly know it is there. But feels like a toy, not for serious tasks. A bit overpriced for what it is, imho.

I agree, the Bugout is a great knife. This is especially true if you appreciate the extra build and material quality you get for the money. Some will agree this is true, for some not. That's OK. Purchase which ever knife you feel comfortable buying. I have the Bugout and the Ontario RAT 2 which are both very similar in size. The better materials, design and build quality is a reason the Ontario is $33.00 regular price and $25.00 on sale while the Bugout is six times the price on sale. There is the factor of US vs foreign labor, Benchmade being a larger company with higher overhead and money spent on advertising vs Ontario Knife Company. Honestly, I like them both but the Bugout is a few steps up from the RAT. It's just my opinion but the way I see it, it is like comparing a Toyota Camery with a Lexus ES. The Camery is very nice and is a great car. The Lexus, though, takes everything up a few notches. Some people appreciate the differences, some not and that's OK. Buy whichever one you feel more comfortable with.
