You can blend hot foods. Like boiling carrots, you boil them and dump them in the blender. Overtime this will destroy your plastic containers. Stainless steel can take the heat. It's also more durable in the sense that it won't break as easily. The downside is that if you leave it in water for too long it can rust. However that only happens if you have it soaked for days.
These are discounts. Costco doesn't always carry these accessories, either.
Mexican here, I blend a lot of dry peppers (i.e. guajillo, arbol, etc) and they tend to stain the plastic container. My husband bought me the stainless steel and hands down it is the best!

Well, $15 less is still $15 cheaper. Since I have an impression that Vitamix stainless steel container doesn't get on sale often, I think this is a good price.
Yeah, if you were going to get it anyway, then $15 off is better than nothing. Truth is, I often by stuff just because it's a good deal. Doesn't matter if I won't use it for 6 months.LMAO

Curious, why do people like stainless steel instead of see through?

Will this container work with the older 5200 model?
No. These are for Ascent and Venturist Series blenders only.

Are the OG 5200's not full size? It's what I own as well.

Is this a deal or just normal pricing
Stainless steel container is $10 higher than Costco historical regular price. It's been a s/o item for $150.

Stainless steel container is surely nice to have, but the truth is that my Vitamix hasn't been used since I bought it last fall. ๐Ÿ˜… I have been very overwhelmed and intimidated by that thing.

I'd love to have the food processor attachment, but the attachment costs more than my standalone food processor...

I've been making a lot of Detroit Style Pizza [seriouseats.com] and the food processor method is by far the best way to prepare the dough. Unfortunately, blending the dough is pretty hard on the food processor and I am starting to see some stress cracks show up on my bowl...the vitamix looks way more heavy duty than my cuisinart bowl...but I could buy SIX replacement bowls on ebay for the same price if those cracks get worse.

Has anyone ever polished the plastic one back to clear? The thing is still functional but the more scratched it gets the more time it takes to clean it properly. The blade is also lifetime product so throwing the entire thing away doesn't seem right; we're only filling up these landfills like we have no future.

You can buy the platic one only and re-use the plate as needed. Open the blade is easy and when you are buying the plastic, they may give you the tool to open it.

LMAO I know what you mean. When you hear that motor revving up, you certainly
don't want it to get loose! I've used mine about 10 times in the last 5 years.
I feel like I'm taking the motorhome to 7/11 when I'm making a protein drink.
I just take the Honda civic to 7/11 instead, and use a Kitchen Aid blender
to make the protein drink.

Mine is sitting in the cabinet too. But it's due to the container sizes. 64oz is too big for a smoothie and the 20oz cup gets jammed up and doesn't blend. They need a 32oz.
