Man Dyson makes too many models. Do they make a model and then when a new version comes out they just make the new one more expensive and keep the old one around? I can't tell if should step up to the V10 or not.
Agreed. I used to recommend Dyson to everyone, but now I can't do that because I don't know the difference among all the models.
It's the soft roller that really makes the difference for hard surfaces…it's really the main key piece. I did extensive research in the past up until they released the V10.

The V8 battery life is significantly less then the V10 along with the price tag. Otherwise their are small nuanced differences. The absolute versions include both the brush roller head and soft roller. The attachments in these higher tier versions (absolute vs their basic) are really overkill.

For battery life think about how long your actually vaccum on time will be….it ends up not being a lot. Ex I bought 2 dyson refurbished (eBay) v6 absolutes for $280 + tax 4 years ago. I have 2200sqft with 50/50 carpet/hard wood… between the both of them it's enough to do the whole place. One is dying very soon.

If I recall correctly, after the V6 most of the next versions had The major issues worked out (easier to empty bin, HEPA filter etc).

If you think an over powered dust buster is cleaning your carpet well you're highly mistaken. Maybe you don't have pets and only hard surfaced floors. I'd suggest going to a real vacuum store and seeing how it compares. Or check out vacuum wars on youtube.
I literally gave away our Kirby when I got these. They make multiple attachments, for hard and carpeted floors.

Anyone successfully added "extended" aftermarket battery to V8? I bought one with great skepticism on ebay for my ancient handheld V6 and it seems to be extended indeed.
I've used a few aftermarket batteries with the V8. There are a ton of crap ones out there, so I just keep buying them from Amazon and sending them back until I find one that's good. You'll know it the first time you use it. This one from TenHutt was my most recent one and it's been good. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

I agree and v8 is the one to get. Combine this and Milwaukee 12amp battery, I can easily clean 4k+ sqft without worrying about power. Adapter is less than 30.
Whoa! Did not know this.

Got this from Dyson directly; got the full set - all heads and add ons what have you. Very bloated and expensive. Good for small areas with carpet.
Battery lasts around 5-7 minutes at best. On Max mode, less than 2 minutes. My anecdotal. Nothing scientific methods here. Hey, I have Dyson V6, and it's a crap too. Did I tell you both Dysons battery failed in less than a year? Why do I keep on getting this sh*t! My wifey keeps on saying it's good - b/c she's not cleaning.
Body of V8 cracked, super glued. HEPA filter broke off, super glued and taped. Ordered cheapo from ebay (from China), barely fits.
On non-carpeted hard floors, it DOES NOT pick up. Instead, it pushes small debris around. You either have cheerios flying backwards, or pushing forwards. It's a junk. Yes, I have both heads - one for hard and another for carpeted floors respectively. Doesn't work.

Picks up a few debris on carpet, that's all. For serious carpet cleaning, get real ones, like Hoover or Miele. Samsung and LG makes them too. LG canister is superb, and my Samsung bot is 5 thumbs up.

30 bucks Dirt Devil picks up better on hard floor.

Get yourself a Hoover. Cheaper. Better in every way. $ave your$elf $ome real $tuff, and get $omething practical.

I've used both the V8 and V10. The V10 has more power, longer battery life, 3 power settings instead of 2, and it's a bit easier/cleaner to empty the bin because you just push the tab and it "shoots" the dustbin forward and opens the door in one motion. I would say that if the price difference is under $100 it's worth stepping up to the V10.

Bought mine over a year and now it doesn't hold a full charge. Sad.
