Comparing target to ebay isn't exactly apples to apples. This is, and has always been, a decent price. Not great, but decent.

Is this durable enough to hold totes in a garage?

Yes unless they are full of bricks. Fair price from a reputable seller, these hardly go on sale anymore especially for the 72" wide ones

Does anyone use this to organize comic book short boxes? If so how does it hold up?

This inflation is nuts. I paid 36$ for this 5 years ago from an ebay vendor. this probably is a decent price nowadays.

Great price as this is the first time after we got hit with Covid that I see them on a "real" sale. Had to buy two for the garage in Spring 2021 and got a whipping 10% off … only.

Anyone know if the vertical rails separate at each shelf, or are they one solid piece? Only space under cabinets for 4 tiers. I can get the 3-tier that's also on sale, but would like 4 if possible

FWIW we use a lot of these in our home and I paid $190 total five sets of them from Walmart in June of 2021.

Same height but a an inch or two different in width and depth. Not a significant enough to justify the cost difference IMO.

I keep alerts on these and I've never paid more than $40 all in for one.

You are absolutely right! For some reason, the cost of shelving went up like crazy during the last 2 years and isn't coming back down. We bought 4-tier 77 in. W x 78 in. H x 24 in. D Husky shelving units on sale for $180 (normal price was ~$230) from Home Depot. Now, they go on sale for $280 and are normally priced at $350. We also got our 5-tier 48 in. W x 78 in. H x 24 in. D Husky shelving units on sale for $100 each (normally priced ~$150 I believe) from Home Depot. Now those same units go on sale for $165 and are normally priced at $200. I don't know what happened to the shelving industry during the pandemic but it certainly deviated from the inflation of other goods, including other steel goods. It's weird and it doesn't make sense.

I use the Trinity ones from Costco to keep Magic cards on. I stack way too much on them and they have been holding up fine for years now.

I would guess that these are similar and would work just fine!
