Amazon has a deal on this air compressor. It is usually around $400, but is now at $282.70 from Amazon. Reviews shows quality issues but I would still bite at this price.

For reference HomeDepot has it for $463 and lowes is showing $435.

Note that this is the steel, not the aluminum tank version.

I have the similar model with the aluminum tank for about 1 year now, and absolutely love it. Total gamechanger with the lower DBs compared to my previous 6 gallon pancake compressor. I no longer dread turning on my compressor. It gets used more often and I can use it in my closed garage without waking the family.

I did extensive research before purchasing and strongly preferred the aluminum version over steel, but there are pros/cons for both options. So do your research.
I've had this same model compressor for about six years now and paid within a couple of bucks of this same price from Zoro at that time. Wouldn't hesitate to buy it again at this price. I've used it to blow out sprinkler lines as someone mentioned and winterize camper lines, run multiple air nailers for a full house roofing job (performed by non-professionals, I can't vouch for how well it would hold up with pros running nailers), some light die grinder work (this pushes it a bit and you do have to wait for it a little bit if you're really pushing or doing an extensive job).
Quality issues exist. The drain plug on mine was poorly welded and leaked badly. I reached out to the vendor and asked if I fixed it myself if they would further discount it. They agreed to discount it 10%, and five minutes of welding later I had a perfectly functional air compressor for a great price. Had it been something in the mechanics of the unit, the result may have been different. My only other complaint is that the nuts on the wheels tend to vibrate loose every now and then. A little blue loctite or a nylon locknut would address this easily, but I just haven't been that motivated yet.

I have a California Air Tools compressor (6010LFC) and it's been terrific and maintenance free for a few years now. Very impressed. The one in this deal is one of the other models I was considering at the time. The third was a Rol-Air pancake made in the USA.

i've owned a different model from this brand for about 5 years now, holding up well and indeed much quieter than the other brands. save a few decibels, worth it!

Good deal. These stand up to light home use, and are much quieter.
I have a small 3 gal unit from them, which is fine for tires or a nail gun, and buying this to run a spray gun

I'll be first to ask, can this be used to blow out sprinkler lines?

Hello all,

Thinking of buying this to replace a loud HF 10 gallon unit. Any thoughts/reviews from SD owners would be much appreciated!

Also, is it possible with this unit to fill the tank, unplug it, and use the air within as I see fit? Will it hold the air within the tank without pressurized air diminishing on its own without use over time? My HF compressor goes to zero without my use over a couple days.

Cant answer your question for this unit, but I do have one of their separate aluminum tanks that you can use attached in series with any compressor to increase tank capacity or fill up and detach to use the compressed air elsewhere: LINK [californiaairtools.com]

Yes. I have used this to blow out my sprinklers the last four seasons.

I have a much more modest version of this machine (the 8 gal 1 HP version). This particular SD does 5.3 CFM @ 90 PSI. Even at my lower 2.2 CFM @ 90 PSI, I am able to easily blow out my four-zone sprinkler system on my 1/4 acre lot. I dont need to blow out every drop of water since it only expands 9% when frozen...and I am positive that I am getting rid of more than ~9-ish% of the water when I do it myself.

Four seasons later, and my machine has paid for itself twice. Keep this in mind if youre looking for a definite "pay-back" calculation for buying the machine.
