Somebody clearly doesn't understand that Lego is the Apple of the toy industry. It's rare to see markdowns or sales on Lego MSRP.

Can anybody familiar with the lego train platform suggest how many sets of 60205 and 60283 to get for a decently sized track set-up?

Both these add-on sets seem small and meant to be purchased in multiples.

Have at least six switches and get as many of the straight track as you can. I know many people have many more but this is a good start . Lego always provides too many curves in their sets. Straight pieces and switches are much more rare. Hope this helps.

Hundred years ago that is what you'd pay for the actual switch track 😂

I honestly had the opposite thought. Making a full 180 degree turn takes a ton of curve pieces. I don't remember exactly but it was like 10+. The simplest track requires 2 180 degree turns. If you have 6 switches I would think it'd take a significant number of curved pieces to make it interesting. That being said they are right about the straight pieces too it takes a lot to go any distance. As is typical with this sort of thing it takes a ton of track.

As a side note after some googling last time I built a track for the kids I found that a vertical rise equal to one Lego block worked well. You may be able to push it a little more but I didn't try. I just went high enough to fit a brio train underneath and back down.
