EA is basically Volkswagen's "penalty" for the whole diesel-gate scandal from a few years back. They were ordered to spend something like $2 billion on EV charging infrastructure.
I just run an extension cord from my neighbor's house. 👍🏻
Gonna be real on this. I'd rather just pay the few dollars to charge normally elsewhere instead of waiting an hour or more in line. I hope people value their time more than a few dollars.

What the heck is "forced"? You really trust your shit media. I lived in China for 20 years and it is just a normal country except you can't vote. Politics there sucks but forced work? They are not idiots. Underpaid yes. It's a country with $10k GDP per capita and you never expect they have the same salary as we here in the US. You have to be thankful for their low salary otherwise you can not afford your life. Oh not to mention that Chinese workers are not lazy as you guys, maybe you can call them "work stupidly hard for tyrant" but your entire life, or every single person's life in the world are getting better because they Chinese are willing to work and produce better product with much less price. There is a reason why made in China killed any industries all over the world. You have no idea how hard working and smart they are, and uneven with the heavy burden of a really suck politic, they are beating us here.
As for the pollution, there is no reason China and any developing country will or can do anything. The west establish the capital and tech advantage 100 years ago, and can use any advanced tech to reduce and protect the environment. Not the case for developing countries. They have left behind tech, and the only way they can still compete with western companies is count no cost to pollution. If you want China and India, including others say no to pollution, pay them to do so. Or just shut up and enjoy your everyday life with cheap made in China and mind your own business.
You questioned the forced labor in China. It's a very real and tragic situation. Here are facts from the U.S. Department of State: https://www.state.gov/forced-labo...ng-region/

I worked 70-80 hours/week last year to aid in the Covid-19 recovery while taking care of my disabled father and giving free shelter to a U.S. Veteran. Not sure why you are accusing Americans of being lazy.

Not sure why you are telling me to be silent regarding human rights in China. I have Chinese friends and I care about their well-being.

I contacted Volta requesting CHAdeMO connector be added to the chargers...These air-headeds say that "it's their stand to pick out a winner (CCS that is) in this standard war..." What these air-headeds failed to realize is that there are STILL millions cars equipped with CHAdeMO in the market. Chargepoint, Electrify, Evgo,... are STILL installing NEW chargers with CHAdeMO connectors...

From the article "Electrify America to phase out new CHAdeMO installations from 2022":

Electrify America says: "As sales of all new BEVs shift to CCS, Electrify America forecasts that over 90% of the non-Tesla BEVs in operation will use CCS by 2025. Electrify America is already seeing this shift at our stations. CHAdeMO usage (including Tesla via CHAdeMO adapter) accounted for just 9% of station usage in the first quarter of 2021, down from 15% in 2019, despite CHAdeMO chargers making up over 20% of all DCFC equipment at our stations."

"Given this, Electrify America will focus its Cycle 3 investment on the future of electrification and deploy CCS as the non-proprietary standard at our stations. This action helps to reinforce the automotive manufacturers' convergence on a single standard, reduces customer confusion, reduces capital and operating costs, and ultimately is expected to lead to increased EV adoption."

There is one by me on the way to Austin that I use often but yeah seems not too many in Houston. My car has free two years with electrify America too but don't really use dc charging running around town.

Phasing out was what I told the airheadeds at Volta...Volta installed the 1st Fast charger with ONLY CCS in 2019 somewhere in the East Coast (Connecticut). Having an additonal connector is like spending spare changes compare to the price of the charger. Yet, millions will benefit. And then eventually phase out the CHAdeMO as the connectors aged or broken down...also coincides with Electrify America FORECASTS of 2025 90% CCS.

My understanding is that only 3 vehicles used CHAdeMO in the US (correct me if I'm wrong): Nissan Leaf, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and Kia Soul EV. The Kia was a small volume vehicle only sold in a few states. As of the end of 2021, Nissan had sold 164,252 electric vehicles and Mitsubishi 13,397 total. That math doesn't seem to support the claim that "millions will benefit" Confused

Does it really matter if I threw in a WILD number, be it a mil, or two OR AS U claimed HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS (including upcoming 2023 model)??? STILL, My point is, there's a LARGE number of cars STUCKED with CHAdeMO. And you don't think 164 thousands customers is ENOUGH to get airheadeds to consider adding a CHAdeMO.
I have NO PROBLEM with Electrify installing 7 CCS and ONLY 1 CHAdeMO at one location because like you have too much time to add up the number, there are millions more CCS cars than CHAdeMO. My point still why those airheadeds @ Volta left LARGE # of cars HANGING. I will NOT reply further...

No thanks.

This is what sets Tesla really apart from other EVs.

Consistently fast and reliable and easily accessible Tesla charging network.

You wont really appreciate it until you have owned both a Tesla and a non Tesla EV and experienced a Tesla vs non Tesla charging.

Free chargers suck. I live in a suburb of LA and we have had Chargepoint and now Volta that is free a mile a way from my house at a Dept Store. Other EV owners (typically Tesla's) leave their cars there for hours on end. As soon as the Chargepoint went to a pay model it was always available. I have no problem paying the prices they charge. They just installed the Volta chargers in and guess who is always parked there.... LMAOLMAO

Volta should switch to a model like Target does for its ChargePoint stations; need to activate by app/card, free for set time, paid beyond that. Volta do it for their L3 stations, just need to extend to their L2 ones

And the power doesn't come from unicorn farts either - about 40% from NG, 20% from both coal and nuclear, and only 20% "renewable" (7 of that is hydro) [in the US]. You're basically just concentrating emissions (and all the losses involved) to a power plant somewhere.

If your power mix is 100% fossil fuel it's roughly just 1:1 displacement of emissions location. But power plants tend to emit high, vs near ground, so pollutants are less localized and directly breathed. https://sciendo.com/pdf/10.2478/r...2031%20%25.
