With impact hex shank drill bits surge can do most everything a drill can do too. I normally only bring my surge with me (instead of impact+drill) to cut down on carry weight.
Sadly I need a replacement drill for the occasions I do need it. The bare 1/2 hammer drill never goes on sale. I want to buy another surge to give to my dad but it's rare to see it go on a deal.
