I don't like mutual funds because of the requirement for forced distributions. Read more [fidelity.com]. I got smacked pretty hard on one fund last year and vowed to move to ETFs.

Thanks for the article, I didn't know about this. I just checked Vanguard's "Taxable Gains" section, the total amount for year 2021 was $12K for me. Does that mean I paid taxes for that? I have an accountant.

Depends. There is a capital gains threshold below which you pay no tax. And dividends are not capital gains. Ask your accountant or look at your tax return.
