I have this laptop and I like it. Dual boot with Linux 21.04

My criteria:
1. Needs to be fast.
2. Noiseless when handling moderate load - chrome with maybe 20 tabs open with a few IDE windows.

Performs well for those needs.

The hinge is a bit tight and the mouse pad is not firm - compared to my MBP that I had earlier. But that was $1749 and this is $649

This CPU is 6 core vs the 4 core on the Dell and seems to do better on benchmarks (although they are not prevalent). I have seen both in person and frankly the Ideapad Pro has a better build quality. The Dell has the faster and more power efficient RAM that wake09 mentioned but it just doesn't have as nice a feel to it. It depends on how you use the laptop but the screen on this has better resolution, is slightly larger, and is touchscreen. The reviews are better for the Lenovo on the Costco site.

No Wi-Fi 6 or Bluetooth 5, seems a little underwhelming for the price. In this price range shouldn't the ram be ddr4x?

That's an easy $20 upgrade.

One of the best thing about this laptop is the 16:10 screen. This will hopefully become the new norm.

WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5 is the easy $20 upgrade, so easy that it shouldn't be the deciding factor on a laptop unless it is within that amount of money.

Doesn't the higher resolution suck double the battery life and make text smaller to read?

I assume you guys are asking about this one? https://slickdeals.net/f/15733570-lenovo-yoga-6-2-in-1-laptop-ryzen-7-5700u-13-3-1080p-16gb-ddr4-512gb-ssd-650-free-shipping?src=catpagev2

- This IdeaPad has a larger screen at a higher resolution and is touchscreen

- The Yoga has a larger processor (more cores), better connectivity (wifi 6 / bluetooth 5)

Basically ask yourself what's more important to you: better display or better multi-core performance?

Thank you. I went with yoga because not that concerned about screen resolution(ideapad is 2.2k and yoga 6 is slightly lower) yoga 6 is also touchscreen and is also 360 rotatable screen!!

Keep in mind AMD 5700u is zen2 based where 5600u is zen3 based. AMD really screwed up naming.

Yep, 5600U has better single core performance: https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-com...en-5-5600u

I bought this last time around and no regrets. Updated the WiFi card easily for $30. The screen is amazing. The only downsides for my purposes compared to the yoga: 1) I prefer fingerprint reader to IR camera which needs to read your face at just the right angle 2) does not rotate 360 degrees.

But the added costco warranty makes this the better deal IMO.
