Just email your local hm dealer and you'll get a better price. The list is on their website. I got an embody for $1000 delivered last year

19.25% but ok.
Percentages off are not additive unless they somehow combine up front.

I paid $825 for origina Aeron and $1000 for remastered a few year ago. I don't regret both purchases

People hype Herman Miller up for no reason

I bought into the hype, purchased a chair without trying all the models out extensively at an office chair vendor

Sold my Aeron after two months - one of the most overrated chairs ever

Went to a vendor this time and sat in every Herman Miller and Steelcase model on available, ordered a fully loaded Steelcase Gesture on the spot

Steelcase Gesture takes a hot dump on anything made by Herman Miller, period

Now I have two Gestures one with and without headrest

Dont waste your money especially on the lower end Embody/Sayl models - absolute trash for what they are charging
My work has gesture chairs. It's ok. I guess it's easier to take a hot dump in a Herman Miller.

Embody is no a lower end chair.

They have a long warranty, like 10 years. But like someone else mentioned, you really do need to actually sit in the chair itself and make any adjustments to see how it actually feels for you. My previous company had Aerons and actually ruined my posture. It just didn't work well for me, despite all of my adjustments. Turns out there is like a regular size and a large size. The lip of the seat dug into the back of my legs so it was uncomfortable to sit all the way back to get good support (the lumbar adjustment was broken anyways) so I had to sit a bit scooted up. But of course, no support and caused me to lean forward more and strain my neck.

No idea how old those chairs were, but they do need to have some parts replaced eventually. My company didn't send the ones I swapped around in to be fixed so I can give you an idea that eventually the piston and plastic lumbar support do eventually stop working. But the chairs could have been 20+ years old at that point. You can replace those parts yourself of course.

Now that being said... I spent around $300 for a Workpro quantum (9000? Maybe 12000?) from Office Depot like two years ago and that worked way better for me. It has 12 years warranty beating out the 10 year for the Aeron. Also has seat tilting and sliding forward/backward adjustment. The seat cushion isn't mesh like the Aeron so eventually that will need to be replaced. I was worried that it would also cause me to have swamp ass in the summer, but turns out it is fine for home for Michigan summers and I usually am on the conservative side for the thermostat. You can tell that the quality in this chair also solid. The wheel base isn't some cheap plastic like some of the entry level chairs in the $100 range. It has some serious heft to it being metal.

People say that those Staples/Office Depot $100-$120 are not comparable to the Aeron and I would agree. But the Aeron isn't worth $800 more than those entry level ones. The Workpro one I got is rated for 8-12 hours of sitting per day, same as the Aeron and is cheaper with a longer warranty and on sale, you can get two or three of them for one Aeron.

Also, in B4 somebody throws out the "you can find it used for like $200" or "you can find it cheap or free easily from a company that's moving or shutting down that is trying to offload it". That's highly YMMV by area and not reproducible in the slightest for the majority of us. I've checked. Even my closest office supplier that sells the Aeron refurbished is still $300+ and you don't get the same warranty as the original.

But back to the topic: gaming chairs are always dubious to me and I don't recommend them. Herman Miller makes solid chairs so maybe this will be the exception. But again, for the money, I think the are better alternatives to the old Aeron.

Whatever floats your boat. I sit for 8 hours on a Leap V2 and work and the rest of the day on a legacy Aeron at home. Both are great, but if I had to buy another I'd get another Aeron.

This 100%. I got a brand new Embody for <$1k a few months back.
What do you say in your email? Hello can I have this chair for X price?

I'm not being sarcastic, I'm seriously asking. I've never heard of emailing companies like this.

I bought my embody used, so I have no idea how old it is. But I've sat in it daily for about 8 years so far and it's basically like new. That's why these chairs aren't actually that expensive...because they will actually often last 15-20 years or more.

If you aren't sure you want a one of these chairs don't buy from a dealer. If you buy from herman miller you can return it. Dealers , if they allow returns will have large restock fees

Im 6'3" and the embody dug into my hamstrings, especially at night when "watching movies". It would kill the back of my legs when legs opened up. I hated it and it seriously was a weird not cool type of nerve pain. Sold it and have and aeron now. The aeron breathes well and it does not dig into hamstrings.

Yes, a few decades and he's not a joking. We had an Aeron from 17 years ago that we bought from a friend that still works and functions great.

Matter of fact, we didn't know it was made 17 years ago because of the amazing condition it was in until I bent down to look for the manufacture date out of curiosity.

We sold it to another friend last year and it's still kicking so it's 18 years and counting.

But please keep in mind that chairs are like cars, it's subjective and won't work for everyone. So be reasonable in your expectations and understand that just because you spend a lot of on a chair doesn't mean it's the perfect one for you.

I tried both the Aeron and Embody and found that the Embody is too soft for my back so it actually hurts even though the embody is more expensive than the Aeron.

I eventually bought a silver Aeron remastered from a dealer for $1100.

Double check HM return policy and make sure you can return the chair(s) if you order them to try. I ordered both the Aeron and Embody directly from HM and returned them both to buy the Aeron from a dealer bevause it was a few hundreds cheaper.

Sat in an Aeron in my office for two decades. Not a great productivity chair-not ideal for leaning forward over a keyboard. It wasn't really designed for that

In 2020, Cort had good condition medium Aerons for $250-300. I bought 2. The Sayle is a rickety piece of garbage. The Embody is no better than a $100 office chair from staples.

$1400 per "gaming" aeron? get lost
It's pretty cool that it's 2020 again. Thanks for the time travel, I need to fix a few things.

That's the range you're going to be in for any real high quality chair. I've used the same aeron for almost 18 years in my home office and it still looks and works like it was brand new. It's super well made. But, my company office chair is a Stealcase Leap and I actually prefer that. Protip--there are a zillion used ofice furniture stores where you can pay about 1/3 of the original cost. I got my Leap chair for 175 and it retailed for about 1K. Barely looked like it was used at all.
