Just email your local hm dealer and you'll get a better price. The list is on their website. I got an embody for $1000 delivered last year

I paid $825 for origina Aeron and $1000 for remastered a few year ago. I don't regret both purchases

19.25% but ok.
Percentages off are not additive unless they somehow combine up front.

Got a Sayl for $150 used. Hit it with a magic erase marker on the few scruffs it had and it came out looking brand new. Absolutely love it. My college's libraries had the same chair and when I started working I knew I had to get one.

"Sold my Arron after two months", is how I have determined that I can't take your statement serious. Basic chairs break after 1-2 years, which is how long it generally takes to realize the benefits of buying a high end chair. Sure, you can spend $100 for 10 years and get garbage, or you can spend $1000 and have it last you at least 10 years. I'm sick of rewarding cheap manufacturers. If I didn't already have a great chair I'd buy this just to spite your post. Sure, spend 1/10th of your money now and spread around the misery for 10 years, or just buy quality now.
I hear you about buying quality and all of that, but let's face it, you are rewarding overpricing furniture.

Even if you paid $100/year for the next 10-years on a cheaper, the time value of money invested is far more expensive. A $1000 today, is worth a crap ton more than 10-years from now even with the ridiculous inflation we got now.

PS, I use an exercise ball on a base. Eliminated all my back pain and enforces good posture. Love it! Cost me $20 for barely used.

I used HM chairs in person and then secret labs at home / remote. Have back pain and can't do cheap gaming chairs. Both helped alleviate it while SL is half the price. With the warranty I can replace it and still be ahead. Just food for thought. While these chairs are amazing there definitely are great options for cheaper.

Bought my Aeron at Costco maybe... 15 years ago? Possibly 20 years. I've seen a grand total of 1 there in all my years going to Costco (and I bought it.)

Unlike others, my Aeron is not "as good as new" all these years later. I've had to replace the foam pad that sits under my hamstrings. (It was a few bucks on eBay so NBD.)

But yes, zero regrets on the purchase.

I wouldn't full discount his statement. Some chairs are just uncomfortable for other people. I sat in an aeron for the longest time (in my professional office and had 1 at home). I swapped over to embody's because i like to recline in my chair, which that chair is made for. I also have a gesture with headrest. They all have their pros and cons and depending on your body type, you'll find comfort different. At this point, I like my gesture as much as my embody and I really don't like that aeron anymore. I had all 3 versions of the aerons too.

I've also owned leap, think, freedom, etc. over the last decade and i personally like the embody and gesture the most.... but that's just my preference. My wife, who is an itty bitty woman, prefers the aeron and embody but hates the gesture.

At the end of the day, it comes down to understanding what your body is like and what you want out of a chair. But buying a "nice" chair is worth it because they last and buying from an authorized dealer, you get the warranty. The embody that i replaced the gesture with was from an unauthorized dealer and my cats wrecked the fabric on the embody. If i was within warranty, it would've been significantly cheaper to replace vs getting HM to replace the fabric. They quoted me 600 for a reupholstery since it wasn't authorized. My friend got his fabric replaced for free after 4-5 years (balance fabric) and it eventually developed holes from just daily use.

If you have discomfort in a chair for 2 months straight, I can understand wanting to swap off and not wanting to give it any more time. The aeron mesh is pretty firm and if he got the wrong size for himself, it could further lead to discomfort; so I wouldn't fully discount him. He went to a gesture so it's not like he discounted the need for a nice chair either.
I can understand the comfort part, but instead of claiming comfort, then pushing another brand is disingenuous at best. HM makes all sorts of different types of chairs. If this particular style was uncomfortable to him/her, then that's understandable as we're not all built the same. But their post sounded like so many shill posts on here of late. I actually had one of the chairs that they're describing, and the plastic piece on the base snapped (cheap chair manufacturers apparently didn't build their brand to withstand the work from home hours). I contacted customer support over 6 months ago and they insist that the part is backordered. I'm sure their excuse now would be that my warranty has since expired. Gotta love how the cheap manufacturers operate...

I bought an Aeron 5 years ago and it was a great investment. When it eventually goes, though, I'll check out Steelcase. I've heard nothing but good things.
That guy just kinda seems like a nay sayer. It's all opinion though, and different bodies like different chairs, so there is some value in what he says. I own both an Embody (got it for free due to an old slickdeals employee sale offer they cancelled orders on, but still received the chair) and a fully loaded Gesture.

One thing he isn't wrong though, in my opinion, the Gesture is a superior chair. That isn't to say the Embody is a bad chair, I just prefer the Gesture. Quality seems better, it is more comfortable for my body (6ft, ~170lbs), and I like the adjustability of it more, ESPECIALLY the arm rests.

I usually let my friends come over and try 'em both before they buy (or not) and I would say it is around a 2/3 split in favor of the Gesture.

Only problem with your math is that having to trade out chairs every year is a cost of your time. I actually used to be one of those cheap guys. SD always had the cheap bonded leather office chairs on sale, and me like a dummy would be like "sweet! $99 lazy-boy oversized office chair!". Just like clockwork, every year or so, the leather would start to peel off like skin at a leper colony.

Some people are fine with this cycle, which who am I to say how someone should spend their money. I mostly offered up that claiming the chair is garbage because you weren't comfortable in it is like claiming an exotic car is garbage because you weren't comfortable in it. Some exotic car manufacturers make comfortable vehicles, they're called SUVs.

Last you a few decades of daily use?! Those are bold words. You're joking, right? Because if not, I'll happily throw down money for this.
He is not joking. I have had my aeron chair 15 years, that I use at the workplace 5 days a week. One of my best investments is this chair. Another thing to splurge on is a tempurpedic bed. Just think you spend probably 50 - 60 percent of you day on these 2 things.

I received my Aeron Gaming yesterday which I bought from a local dealer and I paid $1331.14 and they will not return, if there is any issue. It also looks like an open box as there was some mud on one side of the chair. If I have to buy now, I would buy directly from HM and this is a great price.
I started with leaning towards Embody but Aeron is a better chair. Embody is just a regular chair. Aeron truly is ergonomic.

Can you suggest which tempurpedic bed should I buy as I am thinking to purchase one.

Had a Aeron Size C and maybe it was too big for me as I was getting tailbone pain.

Switched to a Mirra 2 and all has been good.

Bought from used resellers for $400

I am not familiar with the newer models as my bed is 16 years old. Personally, my only gripe with my bed is heat retention, but a lot of the newer models address that.

There literally is nothing beating an aeron.
I have an Embody and regret not getting an Aeron. I tried out the Aeron after I got my Embody and it's just more comfortable.

Ah I see; I agree with you.

Like most things I buy, especially when it comes to nicer stuff, I need/want to experience as much as possible and give it a fair shake before I come to an opinion on it...at least, to an opinion where I can say something is "trash" and there's something definitively better.
Not to go on a tangent too much but it's like this with a lot of "luxury" purchases like high end audio; where you see people recommend the echo chamber because they like something but their experience is mostly just with that 1 product and limited experiences with something else comparable. (e.g. Sennheiser hd800/s).

My friend replaced his embody with the logitech version and swears it's a lot better. In my brief time with it, it's potato/po-tot-toe to me when I've sat in it but I won't give my opinion if it's better or worse because I've only had limited time in the chair (e.g. a couple hours at his house in it) and all I can say is it felt very similar to me. He went from a balanced fabric to the logitech and I told him that the fabric makes a big difference - my rhythm and balanced embody's felt very different from each other and I've only sat in other ppl's chairs with the new sync fabric that's available and at the end of the day, they're all similar imo. Enough so that I can recommend the embody but it comes down to what that person wants out of their chair.

My recommendation is to look at what's available mattress wise and what you're looking for in mattress. If you're a back, stomach, or side sleeper. How heavy you are. If you're a warm or cold sleeper. Etc. All those factors come into play when it's your mattress.

Similar to a chair purchase, I would go somewhere that lets you try multiple types and actually take the time to lay in the mattress. When I'm trying out a mattress, I'll go lay in it for a minimum of 20-30 minutes before I start formulating an opinion on it. You'll want to see how your body feels on it as your body temperature transfer to the mattress and see how the mattress supports you after it's had time to conform to your weight.

For instance, I'm a side sleeper so getting something that doesn't give me exhaustion on my side is a much different support than what my wife prefers because she's an itty bitty woman who sleeps on her back. We have a Purple 4 King which I absolutely love because it's one of the few mattresses where I don't get warm and I don't get exhausted laying on my side, but my wife prefers our all-latex mattress in the guest bedroom because she feels more supported and prefers a firmer feel. The purple for her is good enough that she can still comfortably sleep in it but it's for sure a mattress more tailored for my own body size/shape/weight/preference.
